Eaton Corporation Project Order Engineering Specialist in Burlington, Ontario
Eaton’s Electrical division is currently seeking a Project Order Engineering Specialist to join the team. This role is based at our Burlington, ON location and offers benefits from Day 1.
What you’ll do:
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Project Order Engineering Specialist is responsible for proactively managing and coordinating the technical aspects of basic to high value complex project orders containing standard, assembled-to-order and engineered-to-order equipment.
The incumbent will serve as a customer advocate and demonstrate a leadership role in complex issues related to the project, while communicating with project managers, plants, field sales, and assigned customer base regarding the status of orders including maintaining drawing schedules, specification, and documentation requirements, and addressing technical concerns to ensure on-time and accurate delivery of project commitments.
For orders managed without a project manager, the incumbent will serve as a customer advocate and demonstrate a leadership role in complex issues related to the project, while communicating with plants, field sales, and assigned customer base regarding the technical status of orders including maintaining drawing and production schedules, specification requirements, and addressing technical concerns to ensure on-time and accurate delivery of project commitments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain the technical integrity of assembled-to-order projects via the following actions:
Review and understand customer specifications and order entry documents
Communicate with plant engineers
Conduct drawing review and submittal
Provide technical clarifications
Determine value engineering options
Review and issue drawings or procure drawings from plant engineers. Make drawing changes as necessary where drawings are available
Respond to requests for quote related to pricing adders/deducts for product changes
Manage multiple project orders and prioritize time and tasks effectively to serve Eaton’s customers. Understanding orders priority and urgency will be a major part of managing many projects simultaneously
Work with technical document control specialist to fulfill all project documentation requirements in a timely manner

As-Built drawings in a timely manner
Work with Post-Sales specialist to manage post-shipment resolution related to warranties and damages
Manage effective communication with project managers, plants, field sales, and other internal departments to ensure accurate, on-time delivery of project commitments
Manage effective external technical communication with contractors, industrials, distributors, consulting engineers and OEM’s to ensure successful execution of a project
Based on necessity, participate and lead customer review meetings, including but not limited to:
On-board meetings at plants
Witness test or inspection visits to plants
Meetings at customer sites
Qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or electrical / mechanical engineering technologist diploma from an accredited institution
Minimum 5 years’ experience working with complex and large projects in the electrical industry and assemblies, either in project management, sales/quotations, or engineering
Experience as Project Coordinator or Sales Representative
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without company sponsorship now and in the future
No relocation provided. Only candidates within an 80km radius of Burlington, ON will be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual in English / French – to communicate fluently in French with the customers and sales and English with all other supporting functions as a strong asset
Professional Engineering Licence (P. Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
Strong technical background in industrial and construction products
Strong application knowledge of Power Engineered Products

Experience collaborating with Sales Engineers and Product Engineers

Strong computer skills and ability to use effectively O365 tools at our disposal. Learn and adapt to utilizing Eaton’s preoperatory digital tools and quick learning curve of new digital tools
Proficient with conflict resolution and interpersonal savvy
