MARINE VIEW COLD STORAGE Quality Control Supervisor in BURLINGTON, Washington
Seafood processing and cold storage company in Burlington is looking to fill a Quality Control Supervisor (fresh/frozen crab and fish). This position is for full-time, year-round work. This is a local job at our plant in Burlington. No travel to Alaska and no working on a boat! We are expanding our cold storage and processing business and looking to hire people to grow with our company which is in our 27th year of business. Seafood HACCP training preferred, but will be provided if applicant has not had specific prior training. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to:)
- Supervise Quality Control employees to ensure productivity, quality, and excellence of the product being produced in accordance with HACCP, GMP's, and SSOP Plans.
- Maintain a high degree of visibility and access to employees on production floor.
- Perform visual inspection of processes and product, performing tests as required.
- Review quality data generated by the production line and ensure the information is accurate.
- Oversee the cleanliness and sanitation activity performed in regards to Quality Control and GMP's.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all operating systems pertaining to the cleanup and staff work area.
- Help maintain safety program and required safety training for the crew.
- Establish and maintain department standards for productivity, reliability, and accuracy.
- Lead crew by example when performing management duties.
- Supervise accurate completion of daily paperwork to meet required specifications.
- Attend daily and monthly safety and monthly manager meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the President.
SCHEDULE Working hours are generally 6:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday-Friday year-round. This includes 5 hours a week in overtime. During busy seasons we often have additional overtime hours and sometimes Saturday. Overtime is paid after 40 hours per week. JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to pass a basic math test.
- Good handwriting.
- Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrated proficiency in supervising, motivating, and training crew.
- 2 year associate degree (in food science, food technology, biology, or chemistry), or 3 years quality control or quality assurance experience.
- 1 year recent experience desired in one of the following: warehouse, quality control, food processing, packing, meat cutting, or assembly line.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs individually, and occasionally up to 100 lbs with the assistance of other employees as a team lift.
- Must be able to work in a sometimes wet and cold environment.
- Good attitude and work ethic required.
- Must be able to pass a basic math test, a background check, and a drug test.
