Aston Carter Senior Accountant in Burnaby, British Columbia

Aston Carter's client, a large electronics manufacturer, are seeking a Senior Accountant to join their growing team. This role can operate 100% from home, or in their Burnaby, BC office. Candidates must be located in Western Canada (BC/AB).

Job Duties:

  • Oversee assigned month end accounting and reporting tasks, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and financial reports

  • Take ownership of G/L account reconciliations including researching and resolving reconciling differences

  • Perform analysis on financial results and provide root cause commentary on differences compared to budget, forecast and prior periods

  • Perform balance sheet and departmental trend analysis including leading review with executive team

  • Verify accuracy of financial data and make recommendations for corrections

  • Ensure accounting standards are followed and identify process improvements where needed

  • Perform monthly SOX testing and ensure compliance is maintained

  • Lead intercompany reconciliation processes

  • Implement process improvement initiatives

Must Haves:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting

  • CPA designation (CPA, ACCA, ACA)

  • 4-6 years related experience with at least 2 years as a Sr. Accountant (month end-close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and other general accounting functions)

  • Public company experience

  • Large ERP experience (Oracle, SAP, MS Dynamics)

  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with all stakeholders

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivots, VLOOKUPs, managing large sums of data)

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience working through GAAP and/or SOX

  • SAP experience

  • Hyperion or HFM
