Linnaeus Hospital Manager in Burton On Trent, United Kingdom

We are delighted to open up a unique opportunity for a Hospital Manager to lead our busy surgical referral centre team at West Midlands Referrals in this senior leadership role.

West Midlands Referrals is a purpose-built veterinary referral centre providing veterinary referrals in soft tissue and orthopaedic cases.

The centre is well situated close to the cities of Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham and Lichfield and benefits from a semi-rural location which is also close to the picturesque historical village of Barton Under Needwood.

The market towns of Burton Upon Trent and Tamworth are all within close proximity.

The centre is connected by great road links just off the A38 and the local area benefits from being close to the "outstanding" school catchment of John Taylor secondary school near to the thriving village of Barton Under Needwood which has a lovely character high-street with gift shops, historical pubs, coffee shop and stunning Tudor church. East midlands airport is also within easy access.

This is a key, leadership and clinical quality position. You will be responsible for all aspects of performance of the Hospital within your remit, line managing SLT, working with business partners, the Medical Team, Central Operations and other stakeholders. You will work closely with and report to the Hospital Director with the aim of ensuring the Hospital delivers the highest quality of clinical care to their patients. You will demonstrate and develop exemplary leadership within your businesses and implement the direction and frameworks needed to achieve consistent delivery of the business plan through highly engaged teams.

In this key role, through driving clinical excellence, you will be instrumental in the development and execution of strategic initiatives within your practice business, whilst enhancing the client experience, and strengthening team development, retention and engagement.

MAIN PURPOSE & GOALS

Overview:

  • Drive excellence of clinical quality across the business unit.

  • Work with the Hospital Director to develop a clear, visionary and sustainable strategy for the delivery of referral services within your businesses, aligned to the wider Linnaeus strategy.

  • Under the direction of the Hospital Director, deliver the annual business plan and budget for your business unit.

  • Drive and lead engagement across the teams, actively promoting wellbeing, equality, diversity and inclusion.

  • Contribute to group wide collaboration and efficient ways of working, to strengthen our culture of sharing best practice, and effectively lead and implement change under the direction of the Hospital Director.

  • Sharing in our passion in ‘Making a Better World for Pets’ and continually striving to improve the patient and client experience through your teams.

  • Be an ambassador for Mars Veterinary Health, Linnaeus and the veterinary industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading from the front demonstrating the values and principles of Linnaeus and Mars Veterinary Health.

  • Provide effective leadership and line management of direct reports and in turn ensure that they provide effective leadership and management of their teams.

  • Role modelling motivational leadership that promotes a positive attitude to maintain health and mental wellbeing across the Hospital.

  • Being present on site providing demonstrable in person leadership and support.

  • Lead the team to deliver the agreed service elements within the budget,

  • Collaborating with the Hospital Director to utilise data to inform decision making for the business

  • Working with the Central Operations team to implement group wide strategic operational and other initiatives and co-operate on the effective cascade of information vertically and horizontally throughout the business.

  • Supporting the practice SLTs and the central TA team in identifying and recruiting exceptional clinical and non-clinical talent to ensure the practices have full operational resource to be able to deliver the annual plan

  • Working with Marketing business partner and the practice SLTs in the development, support and delivery of annual marketing plans to drive footfall and client engagement.

  • Working proactively with the Hospital Director and the HR Business Partner to deliver a robust people plan for the site which continues to address associate engagement, retention and attrition and consistently promotes that Linnaeus is a great place to work and succession planning.

  • Working with the Hospital Director, HR Business Partner and the business unit SLTs to identify and develop future talent to support associate retention, career pathways.

  • Ensure that the performance of the Hospital’s operations, both clinical and non-clinical are efficient, value adding and delivered within budget, consistently and proactively identifying areas for improvement.

  • Establish in conjunction with the Hospital Director and SLT, and deliver clear performance indicators, both quantitative and qualitative, for the business. These should be informed by targets, which will significantly improve operational performance, with delivery closely monitored and steps taken to address any inadequacy/under performance.

  • Ensure that the referral process is both robust and efficient, where possible exceeding the expectations of our referring Vets and delivering market leading customer service to both referring vets and clients.

  • Ensure the successful delivery of all regulatory requirements and achieve / maintain Hospital Status via the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme accreditation.

  • Responsibility for facilities & premises management.

  • Oversee delivery of new projects including buildings, equipment and services.

  • Ensure a robust Health & Safety framework is in place, adhering to all legal, regulatory and Linnaeus guidelines, and providing a safe environment for Associates, patients and clients.
