About this position:

The Billing Specialist is responsible for utility billing and meter reading functions including daily billing tasks such as processing, reviewing, and monitoring bills. They also provide support to internal and external customers regarding billing operations, procedures, and issues.

    About this job:

  • Verify accuracy of billing data, analyze and resolve billing discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Analyze accounts for possible adjustments.

  • Process accounts receivable transfers.

  • Perform specialized complex billing.

  • Train staff members on billing and meter reading processes.

  • Utilize multiple systems to provide billing and meter reading solutions.

  • Assist in the detection and reporting of suspected cases of lost revenue through use of various systems.

  • Review, analyze and resolve system exceptions, alarms and events related to meter reading, usage and billing.

  • Analyze account history to resolve meter issues.

  • Interpret meter data and billing determinants.

  • Work with suppliers to process customer supply switches, process supplier's energy usage reports.

  • Provide exceptional customer service when corresponding with customers in regards to adjusted bills or billing inquiries.

  • Create service requests for field personnel to validate and investigate billing and meter reading issues. Identify and troubleshoot problematic meters.

  • Work an 8 hour rotating schedule with hours ranging from 6:00am to 5:00pm

  • Process time sensitive daily bill print files for the bill print vendor, process electronic bill notifications.

  • Assist with troubleshooting all types of metering equipment, terminology and billing for internal and external customers

  • Perform annual and quality budget billing reviews.

  • Complete work in a thorough and timely manner with accuracy and attention to detail with minimal supervision.

  • Create meter reading files daily and process into billing system. Assist meter readers with loading routes to hand held and mobile devices.

  • Work closely with assigned analyst to determine process versus system issues to resolution.

  • Respond to internal requests and work across business units to ensure processes and procedures are being upheld

  • Provide independent judgement

  • Effective time and conflict management skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Preferred minimum two years of related experience/training within billing processes

  • Experience or training in computer-related systems

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other computer applications

  • Work effectively in a team environment as well as being self-motivated

  • Excellent attendance and adherence record
