Northcentral Electric Cooperative Fiber Service Construction Coordinator in Byhalia, Mississippi

This position is for a Fiber Service Construction Coordinator with a company in Olive Branch, MS.

Summary: The purpose of this position is to coordinate the installation and repair of fiber optic services, to home and businesses, and help ensure service delivery deadlines are met while optimizing the use of both internal and external resources. Supervisor: Technical Services Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities: Supervise, train, develop, and support fiber-to-the-home stakers and field technicians, and assist with tool needs, customer concerns, scheduling issues, repairs, and emergencies related to service drops and in-home installations. Assign, coordinate, and inspect fiber service construction processes involving design, installation, relocations, and repairs by internal and external labor resources for main line connections to in-home installations. Understand, manage, and enforce fiber service construction contract requirements, including invoice reconciliation with construction drawings and invoice approval. Coordinate with supporting ROW and Make-Ready personnel to support fiber optic service construction processes. Create, manage, and maintain material management required for fiber optic operations including invoice approvals and assistance with new material specifications. Inspect new and existing facilities for hazards and violations and coordinate corrections through engineering and construction to provide safety for the public and employees. Monitor and report fiber service installation progress and assist with timeline and production projections. Accept and respond to questions from customer service, contractors, and property owners related to fiber optic service installation and maintenance operations. Respond to and coordinate correction of damages, safety hazards, and outages at all times and serve as the on-call fiber supervisor as assigned by a rotation schedule which includes monitoring outage emails and determining proper restoration timing and needs. Provide accurate and timely data to mapping personnel to update network maps. Coordinate splicing operations by distributing work to both internal and external resources for fiber service splicing. Coordinate with the Fiber Main Line Construction Coordinator as needed for combined service and main line needs or repairs. Maintain accurate and timely records of fiber service construction to monitor construction performance, workload, and to communicate accurate status information to customer service. Performs other duties as requested by supervision.

Education and Experience: At least a two-year AA or AS Degree in related field. Related experience may be allowed in-lieu of formal education. A minimum of (3) three years of experience in electric and/or broadband field. Must have a working knowledge of utility aerial and underground construction, maintenance, and operation practices, specifications, and standards. Must have a working knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and standards, both local and national. Must have a working knowledge of operations/engineering related information systems. Must have proven experience of project management and supervision. Must have good communication skills and be able to interact with the public and fellow employees in a courteous and effective manner both orally and in writing. Must have or gain understanding of fiber splicing diagrams, construction drawings, basic home construction for fiber access, and home networking practices. Must have a valid drivers license.

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 lbs.  Must be able to stoop; kneel; crouch; and crawl. Must be able to reach; handle; work primarily with fingers: and feel. Must be able to talk and hear. Must be able to obtain impression through the eyes of the shape, size, distance, motion, and color or other characteristics of objects. Must possess acuity, far and near, epth perception, field of vision, accommodation, and color vision. Must be able to speak clearly and communicate effectively in order to interact with company employees and members. Subject to working outside of normal business hours in order to meet the needs of the membership.
