Job Purpose
We are currently seeking an Accounting Clerk to manage the invoicing of customer accounts, process and record vendor invoices, and perform various administrative tasks. The successful candidate will be working out of our office in Red Deer . The role is a full-time permanent opportunity, working 5 days and 40 hours each week.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Manage our customer accounts which requires the following:
Entering and managing payables invoices to be re-billed to the customers
Creating, submitting, and following up on invoices submitted to the customer via e-mail and through various customer portals
Tracking and managing major customer PO’s to ensure sufficient room for current and future invoicing
Accounts payable duties which include the following:
Entering vendor invoices
Preparing and delivering vendor statements and remittance advice for payments made
Communicating with various vendors to ensure accuracy with respect to invoices received and posted in our system
Preparing semi-monthly payable runs
Maintaining an accurate payables subledger
General administrative duties including the following:
Maintaining and accurate filing system;
Preparation of monthly bank and Visa reconciliations;
Complete various tasks for the management team;
Answer the phones
Other miscellaneous administrative tasks
Qualifications/Competencies
The individual in this role will have:
Grade 12 education at a minimum
5+ years’ experience in a similar role within a mid-sized corporation. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant experience in the energy sector
Post-secondary education with a focus on accounting is considered an asset
Understanding of basic accounting principles
Experience with relevant accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage. Preference will be given to candidates with QuickBooks experience
Proficient with Microsoft Office. Preference will be given to candidates with an above-average understanding of Microsoft Excel and an entry-level understanding of Power Query and Power BI
Able to conduct research and provide detailed, user-friendly reporting
Able to work autonomously and in a team setting
Exhibits excellent problem-solving skills and communication skills
Highly organized
