Aston Carter Accounts Payable & Receivable Clerk in Calgary, Alberta

Aston Carter's large public client is seeking an Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk to join their team on a 9-month contract. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounts Payable/Receivable Representative will be responsible for managing invoicing, reconciliation, as well as answering inquiries from customers.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable

  • Organizing payments.

  • Preparing bank deposits.

  • Preparing, recording and sending invoices.

  • Reconciling customer accounts.

  • Collections and related reporting.

  • Sending quarterly statements.

  • Recording invoices and cash transactions.

  • Following up on payments.

  • Maintaining filing and system records.

  • Answering client inquiries.

Accounts Payable

  • Review vendor statements, determine invoice status, and communicate payment internally and/or with external vendors.

  • Verify accuracy of entries, posting, and signature approval prior to processing invoices.

  • Invoice entry, coding, and reconciliation to general ledger accounts.

  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or misapplied cash transactions.

  • Receives and answers phone calls from vendors or other departments concerning payment status of invoices.

  • Reviews incoming statements from vendors to ensure all outstanding invoices are entered and paid, requests missing copies of invoices from vendors if necessary.

  • Sets up and maintains accurate vendor details including payment information.

  • Investigate payment problems while following corporate A/P policies and procedures.

  • File and maintain financial information, files, and records (i.e., invoices, payments, receipts) in an orderly manner.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Must Haves:

  • 0-2 years of experience (new graduates will be considered)
