Waste Connections Commercial Analyst in Calgary, Alberta

These services are delivered via our network of facilities, along with our specialized equipment and assets. We are equipped to process, recover, recycle and dispose of waste and other materials safely and cost-effectively for our customers.
We are looking for a Commercial Analyst for our R360 Canada head office in Calgary. The Commercial Analyst position is accountable for building and maintaining R360’s analytics in support of business development, sales and energy marketing. The analyst will play a key role in the growth and development of the R360 organization. Key activities include completing market analysis and mapping, providing analytical support for customer engagement, commercial negotiation, development of optimization models and data management.
Duties
Monitor pricing and other market dynamics to ensure optimization of asset network. Identify potential opportunities to improve utilization and profitability
Develop tools to report on business metrics and utilization
Analyze market activity and development and create market studies in support of potential opportunities
Keep up to date and analyze customer activity to support marketing, sales and BD opportunities
Build, operate and maintain analytical models, including calculation and analysis of pricing, profitability, and other KPIs
Build and maintain economic models and business cases in support of business optimization and new opportunities
Build relationships through networking with industry customers and partners to understand key business drivers, developments and anticipate industry trends
Qualifications:
A university degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Science or a related field
2-5 years of experience in the North American energy industry, with knowledge of industry fundamentals and pricing
Highly analytical and proficient in database and spreadsheet applications, with strong skills in Microsoft Excel
Self motivated, drive towards achieving high levels of performance with a strong focus on efficient and accurate analysis
Highly effective analytical, organization skills and attention to detail
