WSP USA Senior Supplier Quality Surveillance (SQS) Coordinator - 6 Months (Temp) in Calgary, Alberta

The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking an experienced Senior Supplier Quality Surveillance (SQS) Coordinator (Temporary for 6 months) in Supply Chain Management (SCM) team, located at our Calgary office. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain Management this position will be responsible for SQS functions on various Energy, Resources, and Industry (ERI) projects. Complete assigned work by ensuring quality, meeting schedule and budget for assigned projects by carrying out the assigned responsibilities. This is a part time position for a duration of 6 months with a potential of conversion to full time employment in future. #WSP-ERI

What you can expect to do here:

The responsibilities, tasks and activities for the SQS Coordinator will include but are not limited to the following.

  • Clear understanding of SQS procedures/workflows and how they relate to Client-specific and/or project requirements.

  • Identification of Inspection Agencies with qualified 3rd party inspectors locally (Alberta), across Canada, USA, Europe, Asia as required.

  • Capability to review and approve the inspectors proposed by Third Party Inspection Agency (TPIA)

  • In collaboration with WSP Buyer or Client, establishes appropriate commercial relationships – Rate Sheets, Billing arrangements, contact information – with Third Party Inspection Agencies.

  • Works closely with Project Managers and Responsible Engineers and Expeditors

  • Works with SQS Team Lead to refine the projects SQS needs.

  • Establishes details of work assignment and reporting requirements for TPIA.

  • Prepares man-hour estimates for various projects and participates in the management of those hours

  • Coordinate inspection activities with TPIA at vendor’s facilities.

  • Receives inspection reports, reviews for quality of fabrication, progress as per fab schedule, and follows up on any noted deficiencies in vendor’s facility.

  • Distributes inspection reports to team – WSP PM, PE, Leads, Expeditor and Client

  • Reviews vendor QC Manuals for completeness

  • Ensures vendor compliance to VDR, Codes, Standards and Regulations

  • Ensures client document requirements are met and communicates information accordingly.

  • Notifies WSP Expeditor of any Supplier document inconsistencies or deficiencies, assists in correcting same

  • In coordination with Director, Supply Chain Management, Project Managers, Expeditors and Clients, makes visits to vendor shops to review quality processes.

  • Works directly with expeditors to correct delivery slippages related to quality issues.

  • Communicate quality issues with Project Team.

  • Collaborate with relevant ‘key working relationships, such as Client and Supplier quality representatives, to ensure all quality activities regarding PO’s have been addressed and covered off.

  • Closeout quality section of PO’s once all contractual and procedural requirements have been met.

  • Manage deadlines and ensure appropriate communication is provided (to relevant parties) when schedule conflicts arise.

  • Administer and electronically distribute specified reports to Clients and/or engineering staff members.

  • Expected to work with all levels of the organization in a cohesive manner.

  • Responsible for large, complex packages and large fabrication orders

  • May be the SQS Lead on a medium - large sized Project.

  • Assist in the development, review and / or revision of WSP General Specifications as required.

  • Mentor to junior staff for = guidance on work methods, procedures and specific quality requirements.

  • Provide assistance in the resolution of complex problems.

  • Review material requisitions.

  • Review and approve ITPs/WPSs/Vendor Quality Plans/Testing Procedures.

  • Coordinate/chair/minute pre-inspection meetings.

  • Manage vendor NCRs when required, including report initiation, advice on corrective actions, and follow-through to closeout.

  • Ensure current drawings, RFIs and project updates are made available for inspection personnel.

  • Participate in meetings with vendor and client, as required.

  • Review and approve invoices from Third Party Inspection Agency (TPIA).

  • Maintain TPIA spend and payment log.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Good knowledge of major equipment procured on ERI projects in industries like, Mining, Waste to Energy, Power Transmission, Battery Plants and Oil and Gas.

  • Broad understanding of pipeline and facilities engineering

  • 8 – 11 + year’s industry experience.

  • University, College, Technical school graduate or Trade Certificate

  • Welding and shop fabrication experience

  • CWB Level II or III Welding Inspector

  • API 1169 Pipeline General Inspector Certification

  • ASNT Level – II Certification in NDT techniques will be an asset.

  • Proficiency with using Oracle based SCM systems.
