WSP USA Senior Transit Planner in Calgary, Alberta
The Opportunity:
WSP is currently seeking a Senior Transit/BRT Planner to join our Transportation Planning team department in Western Canada. The position is responsible for leading and managing transit planning projects, providing technical expertise, and ensuring the successful delivery of a range of multidisciplinary transit projects. This role involves working closely with clients, stakeholders, and team members to develop and implement transit plans that enhance mobility, accessibility, and sustainability within the community.

What you can expect to do here:
Lead and manage transit planning projects from inception to completion.
Build and mentor a growing team of transportation engineers and planners in BRT and transit planning.
Develop and implement transit plans, policies, and strategies to improve public transportation systems.
Coordinate with local authorities, transit agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment and support.
Prepare and present reports, proposals, and presentations to clients and stakeholders.
Conduct public engagement and outreach activities to gather input and build consensus on transit projects.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines.
Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in transit planning.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in transit planning or a related field.
Strong knowledge of transit planning principles, practices, and methodologies.
Proven experience in managing complex transit projects.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in transit planning software and tools (e.g., CAD, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with local, and provincial transportation regulations.
