HR Business Partner, Senior Manager, Cambridge/ London

Senior HR Business Partner, UK-based, supporting our People Team in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. The role will provide consultation and expert advice to internal stakeholders at all levels of seniority on all people matters, whilst ensuring that HR processes and procedures can deliver business strategies and growth plans.

The Senior HR Business Partner will lead our UK HRBP operation, a team of 2 x HRBPs and 1 x Employee Relations Adviser, with overall accountability for the delivery of a highly effective HR service to our UK and Ireland-based teams, across all functions. This includes partnering with senior stakeholders who are in the UK, liaising with global leaders with team members in the UK & Ireland and coordinating with colleagues in the Regional and Functional HR teams and other functions to ensure alignment, consistency, and compliance.

The Senior HR Business Partner will also partner AVEVA’s Northern Europe market leader, supporting the Sales function across this region which incorporates the UK, the Nordics, and the Netherlands.

Whilst principally focused on the UK, AVEVA’s largest entity within EMEA, the Senior HRBP will work closely with their counterparts based across EMEA (in Southern Europe, Central & Eastern Europe and the Middle East & Africa), building the capability of leaders and managers to embed good people management practices and deliver business results. They will also collaborate with HR colleagues in the COEs and other regions to deliver an effective and aligned People function.

Responsibilities

  • Using the appropriate development interventions e.g. mentoring, coaching, training, support the growth and development of the UK HRBP team to enable them to provide an outstanding business partnering offering to employees and senior stakeholders in region and globally.

  • Directly business partner the Vice-President for Northern Europe, to provide timely, technically-sound and commercial advice and support.

  • With the EMEA HRBP Director, implement and regularly review robust action plans with your team that deliver the global People Strategy set out by the ELC and People Leadership Team.

  • Support and advise manager stakeholders on all employee relations and other people matters, intervening as required to manage business risks in a timely manner.

  • Work with your team and Learning & Development colleagues to pro-actively assess and implement training mechanisms to build the capability of line managers and leaders to manage their teams effectively and to address employee relations challenges as they arise.

  • Act as the local country expert to the wider AVEVA business and provide relevant and pragmatic inputs to support change programmes and minimise legal and employee/industrial relations risks.

  • Work with internal senior stakeholders to understand their people management priorities that will drive and deliver business plans and use this insight to develop effective and innovative HR solutions, whilst being mindful of the global people strategy and approach.

  • Be an ambassador for AVEVA’s DEI philosophy and strategy, working with leaders and internal stakeholders to ensure inclusion and fair practice is at the heart of what they do.

  • Work closely with Functional HR Business Partners and local managers to facilitate an understanding and evaluation of the talent and succession needs for their area of the business. Be a champion for AVEVA’s people growth philosophy, signposting managers to the information and development resources available.Support them to identify and offer appropriate and effective talent management interventions and in having meaningful career coaching conversations with their teams.

  • Horizon scanning to identify and understand key employment legislation changes across the region, supporting and regularly updating internal stakeholders.

  • Work with your team to ensure that HRBP employment policies in the region are legally compliant and clear, and visible/accessible to internal customers

  • Advise and support colleagues in the COEs on all day-to-day matters relating to your region, from Talent Acquisition to global initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Sound generalist HR knowledge– understands the employee lifecycle and what good HR practice looks like and acts accordingly.

  • In-depth knowledge of local employment legislation and an ability to apply it pragmatically to achieve the best results for the business.

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

  • Relationship-building – establishes credibility and gains the trust of key stakeholders quickly to become their go-to business adviser.

  • Commercial awareness and acumen – ensure deliverables and decisions always meet the needs of the business and uses data and insight to influence business priorities and activities.

  • Collaborative – works to break down silos by leveraging and sharing knowledge and good practice with other teams and functions.

  • Uses solid reasoning and influencing skills to manage relationships with stakeholders and enable the successful delivery of activities and projects.

  • Combines good attention to detail with an ability to deliver at pace.

  • Makes incremental improvements processes or ways of working based on feedback and business insight.

  • Native or advanced professional command of English, written and verbal.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience of People Partnering with evidence of career progression within a People function.

  • HR experience and sound knowledge of general policies, processes and practices across the whole employee lifecycle.

  • CIPD-qualified or working towards the qualification (or equivalent).

  • Experience of working within a complex matrix organisation with a European reach and preferably in a technology/software company (although this not essential).

  • Knowledge of workforce planning, organisational development and/or organisational design tools and techniques.
