Our team currently develops Azure Sphere, Microsoft’s turnkey, end-to-end, highly secured platform for the Internet of Things. We work in small, collaborative teams in Microsoft's Edge and Platform Division to build the Azure Sphere Security Services, Linux-based operating system, integrated developer experience, and tools.

We're looking for software engineers to join our team, both to work on the core product and also to apply their knowledge to the wider area of Linux security within Microsoft. This would include but is not limited to things like Code Integrity on Linux, Build Security and Integrity on Linux with a focus on OpenEmbedded/Yocto, Secure Linux Boot with Attestation and Securing Linux in VMs/Containers using technologies like Confidential VMs.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and maintain features in a Linux-based operating system project in collaboration with teammates.

  • Help Maintain a Secure Embedded Linux distribution by responding to the evolving threat landscape

  • Build software prototypes and conduct experiments to evaluate alternative architectures for security-related deliverables.

  • Take end-to-end responsibility for the development, quality, diagnosability, and testing of the software you build.

REQUIRED/MINIMUM

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

PREFERRED/ADDITIONAL

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND substantial technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience using software or hardware debuggers.

  • Experience with multiple operating systems. 

  • Experience with Embedded/IoT Development.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:  Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
