The Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden Center for Excellence in Inter-professional Practice, Education, and Innovation (CEIPEI) provides opportunities for active learning, promotes interprofessional collaboration, and stimulates innovation in nursing education and practice. The CEIPEI is accredited by theSociety for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). The Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Education Program (WOCNEP), a certificate within the School of Nursing's graduate program, is currently the only accredited graduate level WOC program in the United States. Offered in both online and on-campus formats, the WOCNEP recruits students from across the nation. Our MSN in School Health is the first School Nurse Certificate Program based upon the National Association of School Nurses' (NASN) Framework for the 21stCentury School Nursing Practice.
Posting Summary
Rutgers University-Camden is seeking a Simulation Laboratory Operations Coordinator. The Simulation Laboratory Operations Coordinator for the Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden's Interprofessional Practice, Education, and Innovation (IPEI) Program will support the daily operational activities. This role involves preparing and maintaining the simulation environment, assisting with technology management, and ensuring the smooth operation of simulation sessions. The coordinator will work closely with the Clinical Simulation Specialists, Simulation Instructional Design and Technology Specialist, and other staff to ensure a high-quality educational experience for students and faculty.
Preparing and maintaining the simulation environment involves setting up and cleaning simulation rooms, moving and lifting manikins, preparing task trainers, restocking supplies, and managing inventory lists. The coordinator ensures the center's cleanliness, repurposes appropriate disposable supplies for multiple uses, and prepares simulated supplies such as intravenous and oral medications. The incumbent will create and update charts in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), apply moulage for realistic injury simulation, and manage the recording and playback of simulation sessions to support faculty and student learning.
The Simulation Laboratory Operations Coordinator will also serve as the receptionist for the IPEI Program. In this role, the coordinator will greet visitors, answer telephones, respond to routine inquiries, and provide basic information about the program. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the safety and security of the facility, adhering to established guidelines. The coordinator will also handle mail retrieval, sign for packages, and manage other deliveries to ensure the smooth operation of the simulation center.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet, and cloud storage use.
  • Technology, multimedia, audio/visual experience including knowledge of networks, computer security, servers, audio mixers, etc. Ability to assess, troubleshoot and fix equipment and technology failures in a timely fashion. Knowledge of audio/video equipment and software for recording, duplication, and editing.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, including learning new software/hardware quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with attention to detail.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding job assignments and sensitive issues.
  • Relevant experience in healthcare.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit and use a computer for a long period of time.
  • The person in this role must be able to independently lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
  • Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, in hand- written forms, and printed on paper.
  • Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
