SUMMARY
Responsible for the strategy, development, deployment, and optimization of sales training for Subaru of America (SOA) Field Team and retailers. Sales training will be developed into a cohesive curriculum to inform, educate, evaluate, and motivate non-technical retailer, SOA Field, distributor partners, vendor partners, and corporate staff to elevate sales knowledge, increase retail sales, and enhance the customer experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains responsibility for Subaru Sales training curriculum strategy and assets that can be utilized by the Subaru Field Team and Subaru retailers. Responsibilities for Sales training development include:
Performing an assessment of training needs to address both what Subaru retailer staff needs and what Subaru of America (SOA) corporate requires to meet company goals.
Developing professional-level training curriculum both in-house and in cooperation with selected vendors. Determines curriculum content and design to best attain company objectives. Curriculum assets could include eLearning courses, instructor-led training (ILT), and resource documents.
Creating sales training programs that focus on continually integrating selling skills with product knowledge and the Love Promise while improving the sales process and customer experience.
Department lead for SOA’s Learning Management System (non-technical).
Strategy: Develops long-term vision for LMS to ensure that it delivers a rich and engaging learning experience. Leads collaboration with Retail Operations Training Team to identify and address departmental LMS needs
Development: Drive continuous improvement of LMS with content and resources to improve end-user experience. Measures analytics to inform maintenance and enhancements.
Vendor Management: Manages relationship with LMS provider including planning meetings, contract negotiations, budget oversight, performance evaluations, and agreements.
Provides orientation at SOA for new Zone Retailer Training Managers (ZRTMs) and other key personnel to familiarize them with Retail Operations Training Department staff managers and functions of each area.
Provides “train the trainer” function with ZRTMs, in conjunction with Regional Product Training Managers (RPTMs), to coach, guide, and help direct their effort. Provides tools and guidance on the extension of learning through the District Sales Managers (DSMs).
Assists RPTMs in performing skills assessment of the ZRTMs and determining action plans to address needs as part of an ongoing improvement process.
Partners with the Product & Retail Operations Training Managers to produce Retailer Driving Events. Leads agency partner to develop research and development (R&D) strategy. Manages budget and locations. Works with the Subaru Field Team for field messaging and seat fill.
Acts as departmental lead for planning and coordinating activities of the ZRTMs and RPTMs to execute the field training exercises at the National Training Conference (NTC) and National Business Conference (NBC), assigning responsibilities and providing field communications.
Performs on-camera to facilitate training to capture eLearning content and other various training initiatives.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Regularly collaborates with cross-functional teams such as Subaru Corporation (SBR), SOA Field Team, Product Launch Team, Product Management, Connected Vehicle Business, and external partners on product launch and on-going support initiatives.
Serves as department liaison for the rollout and implementation of new Sales related programs and processes. Communicates to the field to help ensure a successful rollout.
Coordinates scheduling and activities for Management Associate (MA) rotation for the Retail Operations Training department.
Manages special projects as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Extensive knowledge of retailer operations at both retail and wholesale.
Self-starter and deadline oriented.
Knowledge of adult learning theories and the ability to communicate recommendations for training approach.
Extraordinary communication, facilitation, coaching, and 1-on-1 skills in any environment – dedicated to fostering improvement in others.
Ability to observe, analyze, and provide constructive feedback/coaching to facilitators.
Ability to maintain certification in all Sales/Fixed Operations brand, product, technology, and skills courses.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills – must be able to communicate effectively with employees at all levels in the organization, retailers, and outside vendors and establish strong, mutually beneficial relationships internally and externally within the organization.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that satisfied the requirements of SOA Driving Record Evaluation Criteria Policy.
Must be approved as an “Authorized Driver” by Risk Management to operate vehicles prior to vehicle operation.
Must be able operate all Subaru products including manual transmissions vehicles.
Training experience with other auto manufacturers or other automotive-related training companies preferred.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 4-Year College Degree (BA, BS) and 10-12 years' experience
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Required Travel: 50%
Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that satisfied the requirements of SOA Driving Record Evaluation Criteria Policy.
Must be approved as an “Authorized Driver” by Risk Management to operate vehicles prior to vehicle operation.
Must be able to operate all Subaru products including manual transmission vehicles.

COMPENSATION: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $111500 - $159200 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
