Posting Summary | The Rutgers-Camden Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office is seeking up to 4 instructors to lead a new MCAT workshop that will be offered to undergraduate students for academic credit. The course, offered in partnership with The Princeton Review (TPR), will utilize materials from TPR's self-paced course and be supplemented by American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) materials and direct instruction.We seek instructors who can teach at least one of the four sections:* Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems; * Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems; * Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior; and * Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills.Instructors can elect to teach in-person (in Camden, NJ) or through synchronous virtual instruction, although in-person teaching is preferred. Students' course work begins during the Winter Break utilizing self-paced materials; instructors are not required to "teach" during this time, but will be monitoring students' progress and grading assignments. Beginning the week of January 17, the course will meet two evenings a week, from 5:20 p.m. - 9:50 p.m. and continue until the end of April (14 total weeks). Two of the four topics will be addressed each class session. An instructor teaching one section will attend class only one of the two days. Instructors should expect to spend approximately 2.5-3 hours each week instructing students, with additional time allotted for grading.Primary responsibilities of the MCAT Workshop Instructors will include: * Create and maintain course syllabus with co-instructors, based on template provided by similar workshop offered at Rutgers-New Brunswick * Develop content for selected area for the 14 weeks of instruction * Maintain attendance and grade records * Assign final grades * Provide tips, resources, guides, etc. to support and supplement instruction * Be available to students for questions after class / via email * Work closely with the RUC Learning Center Staff for all matters related to classroom management * Work closely with FAS Dean's Office for academic matters and final grade submission |

Minimum Education and Experience | Applicants must have minimum score of 129 on one or more of the 4 sections of the MCAT exam obtained since 2015. Minimum B.A. or current B.A. degree candidate required. Prior tutoring / teaching experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom. Familiarity with Canvas preferred. Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills. Effective time management and organizational skills. Attention to detail. |
