Reference #: GAFLUS202411362EXTERNALENUS What You Will Do: Gannett Fleming's Environmental Services Business Line is seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Environmental Scientist to provide technical expertise and project management across a diverse client base for variety of assignments based out of our Camp Hill, PA office.
The position offers opportunities to lead field teams, work in a technical group, and the ability to coordinate and collaborate with peer leaders throughout the firm. Senior Project Environmental Scientists serve as a mentor to intermediate and junior level scientists. As a Senior Project Environmental Scientist, you will interact with clients, regulators, and colleagues while working on fast paced and challenging environmental projects. This position will offer the right person significant opportunities for professional growth, specialized training, and leadership.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing environmental scopes of work/projects across a variety of markets, including transportation and transit. Specific focus includes project management, business development support; interpretation of federal, state and local agency regulations; planning and executing analysis of a wide range of environmental resources; and preparation, oversight and review of deliverables including technical reports and permit applications.

Duties and Responsibilities will include: Act as environmental/technical leader and support for projects requiring disturbances in wetlands, streams, and protected habitats to support project planning and environmental permits; providing technical and operational direction with responsibility for delivering positive outcomes. Lead teams conducting wetland delineation fieldwork and other natural resource surveys to gather data for baseline knowledge and impact assessment. Coordinate sampling assignments for various media including surface water, groundwater, soil and sediment. Deliver professional services on time in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations and within the planned level of project profitability. Make decisions independently and/or collaboratively on scientific problems and methods. Author technical reports, environmental deliverables, permit application packages and related work products. Communicate with clients, third party, and regulatory agents regarding project status, schedules, and compliance issues. Support business development and proposal preparation for pursuits across a variety of markets and sectors. This includes marketing and preparing technical and cost proposals. Perform project management duties, such as developing statements of services, cost proposals, and managing financial and other project records. Adhere to client and corporate ontract specifications in all activities including health, safety, security, and the environment.Education | Experience: Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, ecology, pollution control, the physical sciences, or closely related field. A Master's degree is desired, but not required. Minimum 10 years of experience and increasing responsibility in the AEC industry. Strong knowledge of applicable federal and state environmental regulations. Professional certifications such as Professional Wetland Scientist, Certified Ecologists, Ecological Restoration Specialists are desired but not required. Experience with Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM standards is preferred, but not required. Ability to conduct fieldwork in various terrains and weather conditions and interpret field maps, topo maps, and navigate with GPS equipment. Demonstrated ability to write technically and prepare reports for regulatory reviews. Ability to prepare and deliver presentations and lead meetings. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional office setting on simple and complex projects. GIS or CADD experience a plus. Affiliations with the Society of Wetland Scientists, Ecological Society of America, National Association of Environmental Professionals, or The Wildlife Society are desired.
