U.S. Marine Corps ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in Camp Pendleton, California

Summary You will serve as an Environmental Protection Specialist in the Environmental Security Department Office, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton. The duty station is Camp Pendleton, CA. Responsibilities You will serve as Pollution Prevention (P2) Coordinator, developing P2 Initiatives for Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. You will develop and communicate policies, strategies, and plans for P2 initiatives, using life cycle analysis to guide management decisions. You will program, budget, and track P2 projects. You will track the installation's progress in achieving sustainability performance objectives and targets established by Presidential Executive Order or higher headquarters implementing directives. You will work with the Environmental Management System (EMS) to evaluate risks and maintain documentation. You will function as the Integrated Pest Management Coordinator for Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. You will also be responsible for completing the annual EPCRA 313 reporting. You will coordinate the annual Earth Day observance for Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. You will prepare concise and accurate correspondence for transmittal to Commanding Officers as well as written correspondence to off-Base agencies, such as regulatory agencies, surrounding communities, etc. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector using knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and principles performing duties: 1) Analyzing waste streams to develop viable options for waste reduction. 2) Assisting in solving complex problems involving diverse aspects of environmental protection. 3) Assessing and correlating environmental data, verifying results, and discussing technical aspects of work with specialists, engineers, and other environmental experts. 4) Complying with statutes, regulations, licensing/permitting requirements, and precedent decisions governing environmental operations sufficient to plan, implement, or monitor environmental programs and services. 5) Preparing concise and accurate correspondence for transmittal 6) Providing advisory, review, evaluation, educating/training, negotiating, and/or problem solving services on specific problems, projects, programs, or functions.
