CLS Generic Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support department and/or function objectives. Generally, works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department and monitoring the flow of work between own department and others in alignment with broader business objectives, selecting and developing effective managers and work teams, and managing own organization through reliable systems and processes.

Specific Job Summary (describe the nature and purpose of the position)

Work closely with A&C team on the coordination and support of projects and HOA Replacement Reserve projects, to ensure compliance with design specifications, brand standards, budget, and quality requirements.

Work closely and support our Finance and Reserve program corporate teams with the properties reserve studies.

Follow up all MVW Engineering requirements, inspections/audits and work closely with corporate Engineering and FL&S teams.

Accountable for all municipality environmental/ legal Engineering requirements and third-party maintenance contracts.

Work closely with our corporate LF&S requirements and follow up on property Steton audits

Work closely with our legal team to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates, or permits.

Adhere to all corporate-required purchasing policies and controls, including, but not limited to, all outside contractor bids, budgets, and schedules. Follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and in-country regulations and where applicable;

Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs and conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel.

Coordinate and facilitate HOA presentations as needed related to Engineering or Reserve projects updates.

Specific Expected Contributions (including duties and responsibilities)

Apart from leading accountable for the position of Engineering Department as the Director of Engineering for the property the position will:

  • Execute property walks/inspections within our Resort and develop action plans as required.

  • Prepare technical data, bidding, project work, alterations, and repairs for our property.

  • Must have knowledge of building codes.

  • Actively train in fire prevention, environmental health and safety, and engineering systems. Attend all meetings regarding hotel operations, i.e., department, fire, safety, health and quality improvement.

  • Oversee water treatment programs within our Resort

  • Coordinate and support our MVW program within our Resort.

  • Coordinate and support HOA Replacement Reserves and projects within our Resort.

  • Accountable of monthly Reserve program updates within our Resort.

  • Compliance within brand standards, budget and quality requirements for our Resort.

  • Ability to assess the Facilities Assets, determine an action plan of correction/improvement and coordinate all company required consultant inspections

  • Develop and maintain a 5-year preventive maintenance/ capex plan.

  • Assess interiors – electrical, HVAC, plumbing, boilers, ventilation/air quality.

  • Assess exteriors – roof systems, paved areas, landscape, and drainage.

  • Monitor Energy usage and identify initiatives for usage and reduction.

  • Identify, manage, and oversee large CapEx projects and renovation projects including, but not limited to:

  • Produce project scope

  • Ability to read drawings/specifications

  • Understand competitive bid process and award processes

  • Read and manage project schedules

  • Project budgets

  • Request for Proposals (RFP)

  • Bid documents

  • Contracts

  • Project coordination and oversight with leadership at all levels, contractors, and sub-contractors

  • Project closeout processes and acceptance of new and renovated HOA properties in partnership with A&C team.

  • Ensure compliance with annual replacement reserve timeline to include all interior and exterior renovations and construction services related to roofs, parking lots and recreation facilities, where assigned.

  • Provide on-site assistance for and coordinate efforts of MVW Corp. teams, General Manager, vendors, and construction professionals. Engaged in the daily processing and management of assigned projects.

  • Working as the liaison within the established region to support each asset with the decision-making authority for condition assessment, communications, and reporting.

  • Assist Risk Management with natural disasters as well as daily project damages and incidents.

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally, a professional position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines and/or business operations as well as associate management experience. College degree and/or relevant experience generally required.

Reporting

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in related field (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, etc.), or relevant work experience in hospitality.

Experience

  • 5+ years of Project Management, or relevant work experience, and managing construction/trade activities.

  • Background in hospitality facilities management or relevant preferred.

Skills/Attributes

  • Strong project management or facilities related experience.

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal communication skills, and cultural sensitivity with the ability to effectively and tactfully interact with individuals at all levels within the company.

  • Site and corporate level communications for implementation and progress reporting of new projects.

  • Solid in Windows-based computer programs, self-driven to be successful, possessing personal qualities of independence, discipline, initiative, creativity and high ethical integrity.

  • While being entrepreneurial in style and approach, have the ability to function in a well-organized, fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in working with multiple sites/facilities simultaneously.

  • Ability to read and interpret building and landscape drawings/plans.

  • Strong people skills with the ability, and track record, to manage/maintain project documentation and processes.

  • A thorough knowledge of the various disciplines related to the construction/renovation fields and a critical eye for finish details.

  • Detailed oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Resourceful and confident relating to problem-solving and evaluating required approach.

  • Possess the ability to be flexible in travel as required to manage assigned projects (up to 50% as needed)

  • Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish, conduct business in both languages seamlessly
