Description:
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Driller moves the drill to designated locations within the quarry and safely maneuvers into position to drill blast holes. Drillers may maintain and inspect equipment as required.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
Drive and operate mobile drilling machines such as tracked rotary drill rigs to bores holes in open pit mines or quarries.
Following the shot layout & design from the direction of the drilling manager.
Responsible for drilling blast holes in rock and determining the setting of drill controls.
Ability to make accurate measurements, read blueprints and follow written codes and regulations.
Exposure to extreme weather conditions including dust, cold and heat and exposure to loud noises.
Maintain bits, hammers and steel tubes and changes as needed. Detect mechanical repairs necessary to drill requiring larger services.
Inspect and maintain drill’s mechanisms, lubricant system and fluid levels.
Demonstrates ability to perform simple math calculations and complete necessary drilling logs.
Accomplishes all drill production targets set forth without harming the drill.
Understands the limitations of the drill rig and the performances it can safely provide
Perform pre/post shift safety inspections.
Operate equipment with a high degree of competence, skill and proficiency.
Inspect drilling areas for safe ground conditions.
RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER JOBS
Will work closely with other crew members to coordinate responsibilities and communicate progress
Communicate changes/challenges with Operations as necessary.
Coordinate with management to maintain drilling supplies.
Complete reports as required
Perform a variety of duties as directed by management.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required Education: High School diploma/GED or 2 years of equivalent experience.
Required Work Experience: Mechanical ability or interests
Required Training/Certifications: Experience operating Rotary Platform Drill Rig

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
