General Dynamics Mission Systems Advanced Electrical Engineer (Mid-Level) in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 2024-63366 Basic Qualifications Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience. CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.  Responsibilities for this Position General Dynamics Mission Systems is currently seeking an Advanced Electrical Engineer (Mid-level)  in our Canonburg, PA facility. Progeny Systems, a business area within the General Dynamics Mission Systems company, is a high-tech business focusing on software and hardware system integration, cutting-edge research and development, and manufacturing. We deliver architectures, designs, testing, and production of the current and next generation torpedo guidance and control systems for the Department of Defense providing the warfighter with advanced capabilities in target detection, acquisition, and prosecution. We are a technology leader in numerous areas including technology insertion; acoustic sensors; signal processing; guidance; cyber secure; and high reliability systems. Duties and Tasks: Use electrical engineering knowledge to support the definition and assessment of interoperability of various electrical and electronic systems on undersea systems and associated support equipment Design and maintain schematics and other related engineering documentation Define electrical system architecture, electronic assembly design, performance predictions, and external vendor support for various engineering assemblies Provide electrical engineering expertise to support the integration and troubleshooting of a wide range of electronic assemblies Conduct/lead non-conformance investigations and corrective actions Provide electrical subject matter expertise during acceptance and qualification testing of electronic assemblies Participate in system level testing, in water events, and associated missions as needed. What Sets you apart: Proficient using electrical engineering computer-aided design (CAD) tools and mixed Signal circuit analysis/design. Habitually ahead of technology trends, with background in test, troubleshooting, and reading circuit card schematics Motivated to drive innovation around design architectures, assembly, component selection, and electronics design Research & Development experience including concept, design, modeling, prototyping, and testing Collaborative team player committed to ongoing professional development for yourself and others Analyze and design analog and digital electronic circuits including signal conditioning, power, analog-to-digital conversion, and Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems including test software applications Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions Design, analyze, and test underwater acoustic systems Design and build prototype cable assemblies Perform solder rework of prototype circuit card assemblies Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer Generate design and interface documentation Experience with the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation and test phasesKnowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of common communication interfaces such as Ethernet, RS-485, USB, CAN bus, LVDS, and protocols such as TCP and UDP Experience in analog and digital circuit design including signal integrity principles Profi iency in all phases of PCB design, including: creation of high-level functional and architectural diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry (OrCAD Capture experience a plus), and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment, etc. Strong documentation and communication skills Experience with MATLAB programming a plus Our Commitment to You: An exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning and development Research oriented work, alongside award winning teams developing practical solutions for our nation's security Flexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule) Competitive benefits, including 401k matching, flex time off, paid parental leave, healthcare benefits, health & wellness programs, employee resource and social groups, and more. Target salary range: USD $107,520.00/Yr. - USD $120,000.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
