COMPANY: Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. LOCATION: 5781Van Allen Way Carlsbad, CA 92008 TITLE: IT Architect III HOURS: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm DUTIES: Design, implement and automate the architectural components of applications and tools in AWS; Design and implement cloud solutions, leveraging knowledge of cloud tools within AWS and other cloud providers; Re-architect on-premise applications into cloud-centric solutions, with a focus on automation, reliability and disaster recovery; Work with colleagues both in IT and internal business representatives to understand existing systems in order to design a strategy for cloud implementation; Challenge experts to think of new innovative ideas rather than status quo; Utilize iterative development strategies to learn lessons early and respond to change effectively through an aligned and transparent process; Educate application owners in cloud technology to enable their long-term ownership; Maintain up- to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices; Adapt rapidly to changing landscape, both within teams and across the organization as you shift between teams; Assess architecture of existing systems, challenging application owners to adopt the five pillars of the well-architected framework. TRAVEL: Up to 20% domestic and international travel required. REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems, Engineering, Business Technology, or related field of study. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: 3 years of experience in Software Engineering or related experience. ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: No degree plus 5 years of experience in Software Engineering or related experience. Required Knowledge or experience requirement • Cloud architecture and design patterns stacks (ELB, AutoScaling, Serverless, Systems Manager, S3, high availability and DR patterns); • Scripting for automation (C#, Python, Java, Powershell, Shell, or CloudFormation; • Cloud Cost model understanding; • Estimation of current and optimized cost per application stack; • Optimizing cost without reducing application quality; • CI/CD tools and services (Jenkins, Git, Code Pipeline, Ansible, Chef, and Puppet; • Full stack applications written in C#, Angular, Python, and Java; and • Network and Computer Security. Salary: $128,000.00 to 133,000.00 per year #LI-DNI
Compensation and Benefits
The salary pay range estimated for this position IT Architect III based inCalifornia is $128,000.00–$133,000.00.
