Join the Regional Government Service (RGS) Training Team and help us manage the development and delivery of exciting training content to the next generation of local government leaders. Our work brings tremendous value to many local government agencies throughout California and other states. When leaders learn to lead more effectively, community and employee outcomes are improved. We provide the most current and relevant supervisory, management, and leadership training to a wide audience of local government employees from a variety of agency types and sizes. Utilize your experience by managing the end-to-end program life cycles of our leadership academies, webinars, and other training programs.

Enjoy flexible hours and work from your home office. While much of our client work is in California, our training and development service is expanding into other states. The Project Manager may be located in any state as long as they are available to attend meetings and manage programs in all United States time zones, particularly Pacific Standard Time. Weekly hours can range up to 20 hours per week depending on both the Project Manager and project availability.*

The Position

Under direction of the Training Manager, the Project Manager provides project management oversight of the academies, webinars, and other offerings provided by the Training team and helps establish and manage timelines, resources, and budgets for multiple programs.

Responsibilities include end-to-end program life cycle management including planning, scheduling, development, and delivery of programs; ensure programs are delivered on time, within scope, and on-budget; assist with development of training cost models, support and provide thought partnership to the training and development team on training projects; collaborate with team members to ensure alignment with Training goals and objectives; collaborate with the team to assist in conducting needs assessments to identify knowledge or skills gaps; build and scale existing projects and provide insights on how to engage in process improvement initiatives. Responsibilities can also include delivery of training if the incumbent is experienced in delivering trai ing.

Education and Experience:

Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • Bachelors degree in human resources, industrial/organizational psychology, business administration, public administration, or related field.
  • Three years of experience in training and development project management activities in a public sector professional setting.
  • Willing to consider experience that may not be in the public sector if it applies to the qualifications of this position.
  • Will consider experience with non-traditional degree, as well as experience in lieu of degree.

APPLICATION PROCESS AND SELECTION PROCEDURE:

Appraisal Process -(Pass/Fail) Afterthe closing deadline, applications will be screened in relation to the criteria indicated in this announcement. This process may also include various interviews and/or a skills assessment exam to rank applications, and to prepare a Qualified Candidate List. Performance Exam- (100%) Candidates who pass the remote screen interview may be invited to take part in a Performance Exam to demonstrate their associated skills in managing programs.
