Business Unit Overview

8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This role is part of the plant leadership team and has a broad range of technical responsibilities including: owning the plant engineering strategy and execution, developing a proactive maintenance program, providing technical expertise to production, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing. This position uses continuous improvement, plant engineering, and preventative/predictive maintenance methodologies to drive significant improvements in manufacturing efficiencies. Duties And Responsibilities: Develop the 3-5 year capital plan strategy for the site on equipment and systems that will need refurbishment, replacement, or upgrade. Responsible for overseeing development, planning, and execution of small and large capital projects for plant operations. Responsibilities include: defining project scope, developing solutions, and partnering with vendors, consultants, and contractors to develop and install projects. Drive control schedule to accomplish projects on time and within cost estimate Ability to define cost savings and financial justification for CAPEX investments Lead team in the identification of production and process changes, partner with operations leadership to develop and implement engineering improvements, resulting in greater operational efficiencies Set vision for the maintenance function to achieve high equipment performance. Implement proactive strategies such as criticality analyses, PM optimization, reliability-centered maintenance, predictive maintenance to drive high reliability across the plant production assets. Ensure vision is set and resources available to strategically develop technical skill sets for maintenance staff; partner with Human Resources to establish clear employee development programs and external talent pipelines for skilled trades Manage a portfolio of lean projects directed at reducing waste and improving quality to provide greater value; implements such tools as: 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM, and Kaizen. Train and lead cross-functional continuous improvement teams including advancement of the understanding of lean principles (TPM) and techniques; focusing on measurable quality, service, and cost improvements Provide technical guidance, training, and development for the engineering and maintenance team members; assist in setting annual operational targets and help drive improvements to achieve those targets Partner with company leadership to proactively identify and execute on continuous improvement opportunities in the areas of: safety, food safety, quality, productivity, and sanitation Other duties, as assigned

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical) 8+ years’ Engineering experience (Project, Process, or Plant) 5+ years Maintenance or maintenance management experience 3+ years’ experience in food manufacturing Experience with high speed automated packaging lines Experience with PLCs, Control systems, automation, and instrumentation Must have previous experience managing multiple large projects simultaneously Previous experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Preferred Education, Experience, And Skills: 15+ years Engineering experience PE Certification, PMP certification, CMRP Certification Six Sigma Black Belt certification and strong LEAN Manufacturing expertise: 5+ years with black belt Experience with CMMS or ERPs Experience with Ignition, Redzone, Maintenance Connection Previous leadership or supervisory experience Previous experience with Auto CAD Effective written and verbal communication skills Strategic planning skills Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
