What You'll Do

This exciting and dynamic position as the Senior Packaging Engineer will support our significant growth aspirations. Responsibilities for the position are broad; encompassing NPD, Product Maintenance, Cost Savings, and Sustainability while working closely with management and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project launches. Additionally, you will be directing communication with Packaging Suppliers and Contract Manufacturers to verify quality, accuracy, and design across all product brands.

The candidate must fully support the company-s mandate to present a consistent outward-facing image as a prestige brand during all development and ongoing packaging activities. Critical to this role is strong attention to detail throughout the development and commercialization process as well as keeping current the specification system for BOM-s, drawings and other essential documentation.

The position will be based out of the corporate headquarters in Carson, CA with applicable hybrid in the office work guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive innovative design and materials for both primary and secondary components resulting in industry-leading packaging and sustainability

  • Maintain project timelines, tasks, and costs to ensure on-time, on-cost launches of new products

  • Manage all aspects of component specification development, BOM creation, and document retention for packaging materials across all Dermalogica systems

  • Define specifications, defect ranges, and design criteria to facilitate an optimized process flow from component manufacture thru fill and assembly

  • Compile samples, quotes, and specifications required for internal testing on both primary and secondary packaging components

  • Investigate and lead sustainability efforts on packaging materials across all business segments

  • Liaise with contract manufacturers to ensure packaging is optimized for the production environment

What You'll Need

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor-s Degree in Packaging Engineering from a recognized Packaging Program preferred

  • 5-10 years of experience in Packaging Engineering role, preferably within CPG or Skin Care/Beauty

  • Deep understanding of packaging materials and project management, having led large scale projects independently

  • Knowledge and/or experience with:

  • Extrusion Blow Molding

  • Injection Molding

  • Dispensing Systems

  • Decoration techniques for both primary and secondary skin care/beauty packaging

  • Secondary packaging: folding cartons, enclosures, set- boxes, corrugated

Key Skills and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail and sense of urgency to facilitate organized, accurate and effective project launches

  • Strong work ethic and excellent time management skills with an ability to handle multiple projects in parallel

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills with an ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization and suppliers
