JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: SHIPPING CLERK

REPORTS TO: INVENTORY MANAGER

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)

  • Strong math & computer skills

  • Must have a cooperative attitude, necessary to work effectively with others

  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions

  • Must have good attendance

  • Ability to work independently

  • Experience with shipping through commercial freightliners preferred

  • Inventory knowledge would be helpful

  • Must have the ability to get a fork truck license

  • Must be detail oriented

  • Must have successfully completed WORKSTEPS Job Specific Testing

  • Must have ability to use pneumatic nailer and electric saws

  • Commitment to Quality Management Systems and Continuous Improvement

  • Commitment to L&P Safety and Environmental initiatives

    PRIMARY DUTIES:

    The primary duties of the employee are (but not limited to) the following:

  • Pull parts and pack for shipment

  • Build crates and shipping skids as needed

  • Coordinate trucks and complete bills of lading for shipments

  • Track shipments by use of tracking number

  • Load and unload trucks as needed

  • Complete requisitions for material as needed

  • Have a clear understanding of all processes involved with the position

  • Perform other duties as requested or as deemed appropriate

  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities related to the product, process and/or the system

  • Identify, record and communicate any problems relating to product, process and the management system

  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels

  • Verify the implementation of solutions

  • Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected

    Conform to all Quality and Safety requirements and procedure
