Our industry leading cable division is hiring Materials Engineering Manager to join our growing team in Catawba, NC.

How You'll help us connect the world:

Develops, controls, evaluates, and analyzes raw material components. Defines material requirements and communicates with vendors & suppliers to assure that materials obtained and used in the manufacturing process will improve product quality, process consistency and/or reduce costs. Works with Product Engineering and Product Line Management to ensure compliance to customer and industry standards for performance and sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Directs and implements routine laboratory and plant evaluations of raw materials by conducting process analysis, assigning tests for incoming inspection and generating results and conclusions in published engineering test reports/lab notebooks.

· Develops professional relationships and maintains communications with raw materials suppliers by assessing the raw materials and systems.

· Develops material specifications and controls for raw materials by creating new raw-materials specifications and maintaining accurate records of distribution & receipts. Supports EDM activities for SAP and Purchasing information. Supports Supplier Selection Process as required by Supply Chain Management.

· Conducts research regarding new technology and identifies solutions for new product development or enhanced product performance and reliability. Works actively with Product Engineering to implement and qualify changes that impact product reliability and performance.

· Follows internal project management processes and works with

internal Project Managers for Major, Minor, and Engineering projects related to qualification and implementation of material changes impacting design, quality, or cost of sellable products.

· Identifies, implements, and manages cost reduction projects (PIPs) in accordance to established processes and “NEXT” tools.

· Maintains analytical test equipment. Conducts routine tests and investigations and trains supporting technicians on proper use of equipment and test methods.

Requirements:

Chemical or Polymers Engineering Degree and must be knowledgeable and have experience working with a range of polymers including but not limited to HDPE, MDPE, Polypropylene, EVA, PBT, Nylon and Flexible and Semi-rigid PVC. Analytical experience with DSC, FTIR, and other analytical processes is desired.

Manufacturing processes include extrusion and molding. Prior experience or understanding of Fiber Optic Cable materials and constructions would be valued.

Our salary ranges consider various factors, including but not limited to benchmarking by independent third-party consultants, skills, years of experience, training, education, geography, and other business needs. Depending on experience, the range can be higher for candidates with outstanding experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance. This position's expected total compensation (base salary ) is $118,000-$153,000.00
