Job Summary
This position is for an Engineering Technologist III (3) within Regulated & Renewable Energy Midwest’s Generation West Technical department. RREM Generation West operates and maintains several generating facilities in West-Central, IN. Current generation technologies include coal, simple cycle gas turbine, and combined heat & power. Emerging technologies within Generation West’s coverage area include combined cycle and solar facilities. The Generation West Technical department is a diverse group of mechanical, electrical, controls, and chemical engineers and engineering technologists that work together to contribute to our success.
The Engineering Technologist III works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Work Management, Engineering, Safety, Environmental, and Finance to provide technical support for the various systems and equipment at the generating facilities. The Engineering Technologist III will utilize a variety of tools and techniques to ensure the health of and to address any potential and/or existing abnormalities for the systems and equipment. This process can include initial troubleshooting, working with internal/external partners to develop a plan, providing oversight of internal/external work groups, coordinating post-maintenance testing, and final project close out. The Technical department’s goal is to maintain reliability of the systems and equipment while ensuring compliance, safety, and financial responsibility.
The Engineering Technologist III position is the third level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification. Engineering Technologist III provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems and leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with limited supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with a high degree of independence.
Job Responsibilities
Provides deep technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems in area of expertise.
Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
Independently prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
Conducts engineering and related studies.
Strives to continually improve job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
Maintains accurate records and files.
Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
Basic Qualifications
Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent)
5 years related experience
In Lieu of Degree, High School / GED AND 9 years minimum required related experience
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering technology (or equivalent)
3 years related experience

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of basic principles of project management.
Strong Information Technology skills - such as Excel, E-mail, PowerPoint, Word, Maximo, Fusion
Experience in the Electric Utility Industry
Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
Working Conditions
Onsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at a company facility.
Professional office environment (60%)
Industrial Power Plant environment (40%)
Indoors/Outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including heat, cold, precipitation, and wind.
Near systems and equipment where high pressures, high/low temperatures, chemical, rotational, and mechanical hazards exist.
Near systems and equipment below ground, on various walking surfaces, and at height.
Frequent use of stairs and ladders.
