Position Title: School Nutrition Program Administrative AssistantReports To: Director of School Nutrition ProgramsJob Goal: Coordinate and promote the Nutritional Service Program throughout thedistrict in support of the work of the Director of School NutritionPrograms.Preparation, Experience, Skills: Experience working in a K-12 kitchen desired. Knowledge of USDA/IDOE NSLP/SBP/CACFP standards desired. ServSafe Certified Protection Manager Certification or ability to obtain. Successful completion of a minimum of 8 hours of food safety trainingwithin the past 5 years or within 30 days of hire. Proven experience as an Administrative Assistant, Virtual Assistant orOffice Admin Assistant Knowledge of office management systems and procedures, knowledge ofoffice equipment, like printers and fax machines, and to develop andmaintain a filing system. Proficiency in computer skills and knowledge of applications as necessaryto access timely and relevant information and be able to disseminate thesame.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, time management, andto prioritize tasks. The ability to multitask.Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonalskills. Integrity, professionalism, and being able to maintainconfidentiality. Able to work successfully with students, parents, teachers,administrators, school staff, and the community.Suited for situations that require the ability to plan ahead, yet remainflexible enough to adapt to new situations or react to emergenciesSuited for situations that require the ability to interact well with otherpeople, but also the ability to work independently.Physically able to perform all responsibilities of the job.Ability to obtain a satisfactory statement of health as required by law.Principle Duties:Directly supports the aims and objectives of the Nutritional ServiceProgram to students, staff, parents, and community.Assists in establishing and maintaining accurate accounting proceduresand records for proper control and management of money, labor, food, andsupplies.Update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, MSDS, Smart Snackrecords, training logs, CN Labels and/or PFS, nutrition facts, and allergeninformationAssists in the coordination of the food for concessions and/or other schoolrelated activities when appropriate.Supports the coordination of the food service for the District’s earlychildhood program as is appropriate and requested.Monitor procedures are enforced to ensure food is prepared and served ina sanitary, safe environment. Keep abreast of food codes and USDAprograms.Establish and maintain appropriate RFP documents for bids of food,chemicals, bread, milk (do collectively with other districts whenappropriate), and repair/replacement of equipment.Track free and reduced meals for eligible families. Process applications,report to the state.Ensure that standards are followed for receiving, storing and inventoryingfood and non-food supplies using sound management principles.Maintain inventory of foodstuffs, supplies and equipment.Assist in the development of cost-effective menus that maintain nutritionDevelop and promote positive public relations with College Communitystaff, faculty, students, parents and community.Plan meetings and take detailed minutes. Able to present information toindividuals, small groups, and large groups in a clear and compellingmanner.Work with Head Cooks and Cooks to update décor and implementinteractive events to increase participation.Ensures attitude within the team that staff, students and parents are ourcustomers. Implement district-wide customer service driven philosophyfocusing on value and satisfaction. Present menus in a positive light.Develop and promote positive public relations with College Communitystaff, faculty, students, parents and community.Terms ofEmployment: 189 days.
