Central Iowa Power Cooperative Resource Planning Analyst in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO) is currently searching for a Resource Planning Analyst to join the team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This position monitors changing Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) requirements and manages CIPCO’s resource adequacy (generation capacity) obligations and counterparty agreements. Duties and Responsibilities:
Resource Adequacy & Planning:
Participate in MISO working groups in order to monitor capacity market developments and impact to CIPCO.
Prepare load forecast and resource data submittals to MISO.
Monitor CIPCO’s resource adequacy position.
New Resource Procurement:
Participate in the cooperative-wide Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) process that is used to determine resource plan additions.
Determine necessary capacity purchases or sales and prepare contracts.
Monitor CIPCO’s counterparty list. Recommend new counterparties and coordinate the development of new master agreements.
Data & Analysis:
Lead the effort to develop CIPCO’s avoided cost paid to qualifying generators.
Perform data driven analysis, including use of CIPCO’s Business Intelligence tools, to support strategic decision-making across the organization.
Monitor new technologies and determine how they may fit into CIPCO’s power supply.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science, Engineering, Finance, Accounting or other related field with a minimum 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience working in contract development and resource planning, including economic evaluation preferred
Willingness and ability to collaborate in a team environment and work cross-functionally
Detail-oriented and demonstrates a high level of accuracy
Self-starter with a high level of initiative
Is curious and looks for creative ways to solve problems and answer questions
Ability to assess rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs
Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills
