Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for experienced engineering roles in our Business & Regional Avionics Flight Management Applications department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Teams are composed of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of software-only products. Fusion FMS - Our latest deployed FMS product, leveraging the latest in integrated avionics systems of our Pro Line Fusion product line; missionizing products originally developed for our Business and Regional Jet market, to support a number of military platforms around the globe. This is an onsite role based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Relocation assistance may be available.
Primary Responsibilities:
Will write requirements, design and implement software, develop test procedures, perform verification, and complete artifacts for certification.
Provides analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and software level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements and makes recommendations for the generation of verification criteria and plans for the requirements.
May lead a cross-functional team daily and coordinating regularly with engineering and project management to ensure success of the product and program
May include managing aspects of quality, cost, schedule, and scope while navigating the various team dynamics present
May manage work-processes, optimization methods, and risk management tools for large or complex projects.
May be involved in researching, evaluating and recommending investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization's systems products and services.
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
Experience in full life cycle software engineering processes
Strong background in software development and design
Demonstrated ability to identify complex problems, evaluate options, and develop solutions.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively lead project teams.
Have some project management skills.
Willingness to travel (domestic and international <20%)
Preferred Qualifications:
Aerospace industry experience is preferred
DO-178 or similar certification based development experience is preferred
AGILE development experience is preferred
