Job Purpose:

The Director of Community Relations and Volunteer Services will lead strategies that create and maintain a positive image of Methodist Celina Medical Center and the medical services it provides. The Director serves as an active member of the Celina community, participating on local boards and other committees, and acts as a liaison between its citizens and Methodist Health System. This role leads community relations efforts by planning and implementing events that benefit both the health system and residents while supporting the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.

This role will be responsible for securing patient stories for use in various Public Relations and Marketing materials for Methodist. This Director also will help create and oversee the Volunteer program at Methodist Celina.

Related Work Experience and Other Skills:

  • 5 years of experience in public relations, media journalism, or equivalent

  • Strong grasp of the English language, with excellent writing, spelling, and grammatical skills

  • Experience with community engagement work and/or event planning

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in journalism, public relations, marketing or communications

Job Roles:

  • Identify, pitch, and secure news stories in accordance with standards set by Vice President and Assistant Vice President of Public Relations.

  • Assist in developing social media posts and blog articles for various Methodist social channels.

  • Develop and coordinate events and programs for Methodist Celina Medical Center and as assigned for Methodist Health System corporate, to include open houses, groundbreaking ceremonies, dedications, celebrations, and community health education programs.

  • Represent Methodist Health System and Methodist Celina as the contact for participation in sponsorships, donations, and community volunteer initiatives; establish criteria for involvement.

  • Serve as liaison between the hospital and nearby community groups, leaders, boards, and area EMS teams.

  • Plan and implement budget for community involvement programs.

  • Identifies high impact use of marketing dollars to reach strategically targeted demographics.

  • Build and maintain key relationships within the hospital and Methodist Health System to ensure a current, in-depth knowledge of services and key events.

  • Communicate professionally and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to both physicians, executives and laypeople, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Serve as part of PR crisis communications team.

  • Write for internal newsletters and external award nominations.

  • Working with staff, assess needs of departments and develop volunteer placements.

  • Recruit qualified volunteers. Locate volunteer resources to meet special needs and requests.

  • Develops placements to meet interests and capabilities of volunteers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Methodist Celina Medical Center is located on a 40+ acre campus just off of Dallas Parkway, and will serve as the community’s first full-service hospital, serving Celina and surrounding communities. The four-story medical center will open with 51 beds, with plans for expansion, and will feature a range of services including cardiology, women’s services, orthopedics, robotic surgery, and more. The campus will also include a 40,000-square-foot medical office building.

The $237 million facility will be one of Celina’s largest employers in the fastest growing city in the country. We strive to have a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
