Attorney - Third Party Insurance Defense Litigation
Our client is seeking an attorney with 3+ years’ experience in insurance defense litigation for its thriving 3rd party defense practice. The firm has flexibility in tailoring the position to be appropriate for an experienced Jr. Associate, up to an accomplished Sr. Trial Attorney. At a minimum, the candidate should have relevant insurance defense experience, and the ability to immediately integrate as a second chair attorney on litigated matters. Added experience, including trial experience is desired but not required. This attorney will specialize in defending individuals and companies in tort claim lawsuits (usually negligence) filed by individuals where the insured party is alleged to be "at fault," handling all aspects of the legal process from initial investigation to trial.
Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of litigated matters in the area of third-party insurance defense litigation.
Analyze accident reports, medical records, and other relevant documents to assess the merits of a third-party claim
Conduct thorough research on applicable state laws, insurance policy language, and legal precedents related to liability and coverage disputes.
Draft and file necessary legal documents such as pleadings, complaints, answers, motions, and discovery requests.
Conduct depositions of witnesses, prepare legal arguments, and develop trial strategy to effectively present the case in court.
Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel to resolve claims within policy limits and minimize financial exposure for the insurance company.
Represent clients in court hearings, motions arguments, and trials.
Regularly update clients (insured clients and insurance companies) on case progress, legal developments, and potential risks.
Mentor junior lawyers (depending upon experience) and contribute to the team's overall knowledge and strategy formulation.
Collaborate with rest of the legal team, delegate tasks if necessary and monitor progress.
Stay informed of updates in tort and insurance law by participating in professional development courses and maintaining active involvement in professional associations.

Requirements • Must possess skills in Briefing, proficient in summarizing legal facts and presenting them in an organized manner.
• Experience in Civil Litigation is required, with a focus on disputes between individuals and/or organizations that can be resolved in court.
• Should be adept at Claim Administration, effectively managing, processing, and settling claims.
• Proficiency in Insurance Law is essential, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of laws related to insurance policies and claims.
• Must have experience in Insurance Defense Litigation, representing insurance companies in disputes over coverage claims.
• Should possess experience in conducting Jury Trials, managing all aspects from jury selection to final verdict.
• Proficient in Negotiating Settlements, being able to resolve disputes outside of court to minimize costs and time.
• Experience as a Litigation Attorney is required, including representing plaintiffs and defendants in civil cases and managing all phases of the litigation process.
• Must be adept at Arguing Motions, presenting reasons to a judge why they should rule in your client's favor on a particular issue.
• Should have experience in Preparing Pleadings, drafting formal written statements of the parties' claims and defenses for the court's consideration.
