Electrician-Maintenance & Engineering Job Description

Role Summary

The purpose of the Electrician-Maintenance & Engineeringis to provide support the installation, maintenance, and repair work for electrical wiring, electrical control systems, lighting, equipment, and fixtures. This position ensure that work is performed in accordance with relevant codes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

TheElectrician-Maintenance & Engineeringis an individual contributor role reporting to the Manager of Facilities of Maintenance. This position will primarily support the Company's Central Islip (Unit III) facility but may also provide electrical maintenance services to the Company's Hauppauge (Units I and II) facilities as well. The job duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshoot, Install, maintain, modify and repair all machinery electric parts.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance to equipment.
  • Assist engineering team to complete all project electrical construction as assigned by engineering manager.
  • Responsible for procurement of all necessary electrical parts/supplies and inventory of electrical parts.
  • Assist Facilities personnel in the electric issues (Outlets, switches, Lighting, etc.).
  • When required, must be able to work overtime and weekends to include starting work earlier or staying later past scheduled hours).

Position Requirements

  • Knowledge of PLC is Plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair various electrical and minor mechanical issues.
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical trouble shooting and installation.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in English (verbal and written).
  • Positive, professional attitude toward work and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish language speaking abilities is a plus.
  • Physical requirements: Long periods of standing up/walking during the working hours; ability to ascent/decent ladders and stairs; and able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Employment Classification

Full-time. Must be willing and able to work any assigned shift ranging from first, second, or third shift. Work schedule may be Monday to Friday, Tuesday to Saturday, or some combination thereof based on business needs.
