About the Role

Role

We are currently seeking to recruit a Business Development Manager to join our Global Wealth Team, based in Singapore. This individual will play an important role in driving growth across Wellington’s full product suite with Financial Intermediaries in South East Asia.

Responsibilities

  • This individual will work closely with the Asia GWM team to understand each client’s long term investment objectives and policy issues and bring the resources of the organization to bear on behalf of the client, with the goal of delivering a level of service that will exceed the client’s expectations and position Wellington Management as the partner of choice.

  • Client coverage includes (and is not limited to) private banks, consumer banks, platforms, insurance partners and asset managers/sub-advisory. Coverage within each client typically includes product selection, due diligence, investment consultants and relationship managers

  • Providing dedicated client coverage, focused on driving growth across funds/strategies, in line with business priorities;

  • Contributing to the team’s collaborative approach to relationship building with strategic distribution partners, including identifying, developing, and nurturing key contacts;

  • Managing and developing existing client relationships, highlighting key focus funds/strategies, contributing to building buy list positions, and identifying new opportunities to partner with key firms;

  • Contributing to the development of wider industry relationships with influencers within the wealth channel;

  • Partnering closely with Marketing and PR colleagues to ensure that local marketing and sales strategies are closely aligned, and contributing to the continued growth in brand awareness;

  • Providing guidance and direction to Relationship Analysts;

  • Actively contributing to team sales meetings, strategy planning and development.

  • Traveling within the region to support the team’s distribution effort with key accounts, contributing to client events, roadshows, and education.

Qualifications

A successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Have 10+ years of relevant industry experience.

  • Solid understanding of the Singapore / SE Asian Fund Distribution business with proven success.

  • Have a demonstrable track record of successfully developing and managing a network of client relationships within the market;

  • Have a comprehensive understanding of competitors, products, key market trends, market infrastructure and industry developments;

  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of financial markets, and an ability to influence through a content-led (across asset classes), consultative sale approach;

  • Be action orientated, accountable, committed, driven and self-motivated, with excellent communication and team working skills;

  • Have the ability to prioritise, focus, and execute a sales strategy in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and trust, and a client centric focus;

  • Excellent English communication skills. Mandarin a plus.

  • Have a strong academic background, including an undergraduate degree. A relevant professional qualification (e.g. CFA) or progress towards one, is preferred.
