Jacobs Senior Systems Engineer (Aeronautical Data) in Chantilly, Virginia
We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer with experience in aeronautical data to join our team. The team is responsible for developing software to generate navigation databases for multiple aircraft—and for managing, verifying, and validating the aeronautical data included in the databases is safe and suitable for flight operations.
Location: Remote in the United States (Team is located in Hudson, NH)
Work scope may include the following duties:
Analyze National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) aeronautical data products
Identify and help resolve aircraft avionics and aeronautical data issues related to Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM)
Investigate interaction of aeronautical data and flight management systems changes in a systems integration lab, aircraft simulator/emulator, or on-aircraft
Maintain relevant knowledge of Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Area Navigation (RNAV) flight operations; aeronautical data; mission planning; and related software systems
Test navigation software tools and recommend changes to those tools
Collaborate with the product management and software development teams
Work periodic overtime, holidays, and weekends as necessary
Knowledge of aeronautical data standards such as NGA’s Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File (DAFIF) and ARINC-424 Navigation System Database
Understanding of Agile software development principles and practices
Experience with mission planning and Service/Joint/Coalition air operations (desired)
Fixed-wing military, commercial, or private (instrument rated) flight experience (desired)
Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret or higher security clearance
Minimum Education:
High school diploma and 8 years of experience
OR
BS degree from an accredited college or university in any Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field and 4 years of experience
