Description

We are seeking a skilled Database Developer with expertise in building SQL Server data warehousing solutions and proficiency in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) to join our team. As a Database Developer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining data warehouse systems to support our business intelligence and analytics initiatives. Your experience with SQL Server data warehousing and SSMS will contribute to the successful implementation of scalable and efficient data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for data warehouse solutions.

  • Design and develop data warehouse schemas, data models, and ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or other ETL tools.

  • Implement best practices for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data in the data warehouse.

  • Optimize data warehouse performance and scalability through index optimization, partitioning strategies, and other performance tuning techniques.

  • Develop and maintain stored procedures, functions, and views in T-SQL to support data warehouse operations and reporting requirements.

  • Utilize SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) for database development, administration, and performance monitoring.

  • Implement data quality and data governance measures to ensure data integrity and consistency across the data warehouse.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot data warehouse processes and jobs to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum availability.

  • Collaborate with BI developers, analysts, and business users to design and develop reports, dashboards, and data visualizations based on data warehouse data.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Proven experience as a Database Developer with expertise in building SQL Server data warehousing solutions.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) for database development, administration, and performance tuning.

  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for ETL development and automation.

  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and methodologies, including dimensional modeling, star schemas, and data mart design.

  • Proficiency in Transact-SQL (T-SQL) programming for developing stored procedures, functions, and views.

  • Knowledge of database design principles, normalization, and indexing strategies.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques for reporting and analytics (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive mindset towards troubleshooting and debugging.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in SQL Server or related database technologies.

  • Experience with other ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, or DataStage.

  • Knowledge of advanced SQL Server features such as columnstore indexes, in-memory OLTP, and temporal tables.

  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

  • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong online presence in the database development community.
