Insight Global ICC Special Inspector in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Description

Day to Day: The Special Inspector will join a dynamic team providing high-level inspection and testing services across North Carolina. This role involves working on multiple high-profile projects, performing field observations, and conducting materials sampling/testing for buildings, bridges, and roadways. The inspector will document daily activities, ensure compliance with contract documents, and communicate progress to the Department Manager. The position requires physical activity, including lifting and operating heavy equipment, and working in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

 Conduct field observations and materials sampling/testing during construction.

 Test construction materials such as soils, reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, metal decking, roofing, and paving.

 Document daily field activities and compliance with contract documents.

 Cast field samples for strength verification.

 Communicate daily progress to the Department Manager.

 Transport construction material samples to the laboratory and deliver equipment to site technicians.

Requirements:

 High school diploma.

 1+ year of experience in Construction Materials Engineering & Testing and Special Inspections.

 Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

 Strong technical background and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 Commitment to maintaining current certifications.

This role's rate is dependent on a variety of factors including experience level, education level, and certifications held. It may range from 22-30$/hr

Skills and Requirements

Must-Haves:

 3+ years of experience in special inspection and/or construction materials testing.

 Radiation safety training for nuclear density gauge operation.

 ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade 1 certification.

 ICC Reinforced Concrete certification.

 Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.

 Proficiency with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).

 High school diploma or equivalent.

 Strong work ethic and high personal integrity.

 Ability to monitor contractors and report results verbally and in writing.

 Proficiency in preparing detailed reports of testing and inspection activities.

 Attention to detail, quality, and safety.

 Authorization to work in the United States. Plusses:

 NCDOT testing/inspection certifications.

 Additional ICC Special Inspector Certifications (e.g., Pre-stressed Concrete, Soil, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Structural Welding, Structural Steel and Bolting).

 PTI Unbonded Level 1 or 2 certification.

 Experience with Cast Auger Piles.

 Background in vertical construction with emphasis on soil and concrete field testing. null
