Support and assist the Legal Department Intellectual Property Team in managing and protecting the Bank’s patents, trade secrets and other IP assets.
*Position is office centric with 4 days in the office. *
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Consistently resolve highly-complex issues, transactions, or projects where exceptional professional expertise is required to apply law, regulation, policies, and guidelines.
Investigate facts of a substantial volume of varying or highly-complex matters, cases, or transactions, including by interviews with clients or witnesses. Organize, review, and analyze large volumes of detailed information.
Perform advanced legal research, apply results to facts, and develop and communicate legal conclusions.
Draft and review highly complex legal and business documents including correspondence, agreements, contracts, pleadings, and other legal documents.
Summarize matters, including events, facts, depositions, testimony, and interrogatories.
Design, maintain, train, and/or manage one or more Legal Department workflow processes, reports, tools, and databases. Consistently display leadership skills in executing on team priorities and bringing forth solutions to issues raised, as well as shouldering additional responsibilities.
Maintain and update files, forms, databases, and records.
Interact on a professional level with other departments, internal and external clients, outside counsel, vendors, and others, including to senior managers and executives.
Consistently supervise or provide leadership, guidance and training to less experienced paralegals or other support staff, as applicable.
Consistently display exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Manage and maintain Truist’s patent docket, including running the IP management database tool, and monitoring deadlines to ensure timely filing of patent deadlines.
Coordinate with inventors to gather documentation and other information necessary for patent application filings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an American Bar Association approved curriculum or equivalent education; or successful completion of an American Bar Association approved paralegal training program; or certification by a State Bar approved paralegal certification program; or prior experience working as a paralegal or equivalent professional experience
10 or more years of related legal or financial experience
Advanced understanding of legal concepts, terminology, principles, and procedures
Exceptional analytical thinking skills with the ability to identify and define issues, establish facts, analyze highly-complex information, and develop substantiated conclusions with minimal supervision
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to express highly-complex facts and legal principles clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
Advanced knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices of legal research and writing with demonstrated proficiency in online legal research
Creative problem-solving skills with ability to identify and resolve highly-complex problems in a timely manner seeking input of others as needed
Exceptional leadership and relationship management skills with the ability to positively influence others across multiple practice groups and department and achieve desired results
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet competing deadlines
Ability to manage numerous complex projects that require interaction with multiple attorneys' departments, and internal and external clients, including senior managers and executives
Exceptional organizational and project management skills; attention to detail and accuracy
Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or related training in the financial services industry or a related legal practice area, with demonstrated specialization.
Comfortable working in the environment of a large, complex corporation focused on delivering results and managing expenses.
