Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Job Purpose

Corning’s summer internship experience is rich with hands-on learning. You’ll live, work, and experience the Charlotte community while building on-the-job skills. Working with a supervisor or mentor, you will gain work experience while interacting with key technologies, subject matter experts and leaders. Our Market Development teams serve as subject matter experts, helping to help solve customer challenges. They also define and prioritize new product development and work with Marketing to support the creation of customer facing materials.

Minimum Requirements

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in the following fields:

  • Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) or other Telecom industry related degrees (Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Management, Optical Science & Engineering)

  • Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or relevant Sciences

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred/desired

  • Interested in commercial operations roles such as sales, marketing, sales support, customer service, field engineering, product marketing and/or product management functions

  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later

  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

  • Be willing to work at the posted job location

  • Attention to detail and bias towards action

  • Proven analytical skills and process orientation

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
