Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Within a 4-4 teaching load, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses that serve history majors as well as the general education program, and they will also contribute service to the department, college, and university. They will demonstrate teaching excellence by using effective instructional strategies, designing and implementing curricula, formulating and measuring course goals, expectations, and outcomes, and providing effective oral and/or written feedback to student learning.

Minimum Experience / Education:

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

Required qualifications: M.A. in History or a related field for a lecturer, with a specialization in U.S. history at time of appointment; teaching experience at the college/university level, a commitment to serving UNC Charlotte students of all backgrounds, and an ability to teach North Carolina history. Ph.D. in History or a related field for an Assistant Teaching Professor.

Desired qualifications: Ph.D. in History or a related field for an Assistant Teaching Professor, and the ability to contribute to the minor in Women’s and Gender Studies. We are especially interested in applications from historians with expertise in one or more of the following areas: gender, sexuality, LGBTQ+, politics, military, law, film, medicine and health, or foreign policy.
