Principal Financial Group Product Manager II- Distribution Consulting in Charlotte, North Carolina

What You'll Do

We are looking for a Product Manager II to join our Retirement and Income Solutions team, focusing on Participant Distribution Consulting strategies.

In this role, you will focus on delivering valuable and viable solutions as well as drive outcomes, in partnership with the product team. You will demonstrate curiosity, flexibility, and motivation to gain exposure and experience in all phases of the product lifecycle.

What You’ll Do

  • Define key business outcomes and requirements for the Roll-in product offering which serves participants transitioning assets to Principal, and the Distribution Consulting service focused on providing participant asset advice at benefit event.

  • Develop multi-staged product roadmaps and complete the Participant Roll-in and Distribution Consulting rollover strategies.

  • Collaborate with marketing and project management to accurately represent the product, drive growth through campaign initiatives, and suggest improvements for participant value.

  • Partner with participant-facing engagement team leaders to ensure staffing and volume alignment with product goals.

  • Conduct competitive analysis, review product data and insights to find opportunities/problems to solve, and articulate hypotheses.

  • Work with compliance and supervision to ensure adherence to required advice policies and fiduciary requirements.

  • Improve data aggregation and asset consolidation by bringing to bear technology for enhanced scalability across human and digital channels.

  • Contribute to a product team by evaluating experiments, working together to uncover insights, and communicating findings to collaborators and customers.

Who You Are

  • 4+ years of business, technology, or product management experience; or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate with collaborators at all levels.

  • Requires an in-depth knowledge of the company and the industry, and comprehensive knowledge of technology and its role in solving business problems.

  • Possesses understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery.

  • Strong critical thinking/vision, collaboration and decision-making skills along with business savviness and relationship management abilities.

  • Understanding of participants' needs, retirement market dynamics and operations, competition, and trends.

  • Proven experience collaborating, influencing, and negotiating in a professional team environment, including demonstrating varied perspectives and data to inform actions.

  • High-level technical understanding.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$95200 - $182400 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
