Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Patrols, monitors, and guards an area with a higher assessed risk, to include other areas as determined by the needs of Police & Public Safety.
Provides support for special events.
Provides motorist assistance.
Demonstrates proficiency in using a variety of security and enforcement equipment, which may include gates, alarm panels, radios, cameras, and electronic devices. Uses the full functionality of security/surveillance systems.
May perform routine maintenance on equipment.
Keeps abreast of developments in security practices.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalency and demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require valid N.C. driver’s license.
University Preferred Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalency and one year experience in security enforcement or protection work. Some positions may require valid N.C. driver’s license.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of property security and enforcement procedures.
Knowledge of the policies, rules, and regulations applicable to the property being guarded, sufficient to explain, apply, and enforce the policies, rules, and regulations of the University.
Prior experience working in the law enforcement field or closely related area.
Strong attention to detail.
