Job Summary

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Rental Senior Application Engineer at Trane Technologies™ ensures optimal performance and integration of rental equipment. You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert for rental applications and technical support. The role involves addressing inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with customers to provide tailored solutions for Rental HVAC, Process Cooling, and Power equipment in temporary applications. Through effective communication and technical expertise, you will ensure high customer satisfaction.

Where is the work:

This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate daily with sales personnel and customers to guide rental equipment applications and installations.

  • Assist in creating tailored rental equipment proposals and communicating customer requirements.

  • Analyze end-user data to support sales and develop innovative solutions based on customer needs and competitor insights.

  • Ensure proposed solutions meet requirements through detailed plans, specifications, and load calculations.

  • Respond to requests through our customer service platform.

  • Create and review technical documentation, including Engineering Bulletins, IOMs, Application Guides, and Best Practices.

  • Act as a subject matter expert to enhance processes, respond to complex engineering requests, and mentor new hires.

  • Participate in RFQs, evaluate vendor submissions, and contribute to new equipment design and validation.

  • Support critical projects, including on-site work, and assist other engineers with complex requests.

  • Develop tools and documentation to automate inquiries and ensure timely responses.

  • Support product integration and market expansion through comprehensive documentation.

  • Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering teams on new product initiatives.

  • Provide product development, testing, and commercialization guidance and deliver technical training to other teams.

  • Lead and participate in Lean/Operational Excellence (OpEx) initiatives to drive continuous improvement and process support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred

  • 7+ years of experience in the HVAC industry required; experience in rental services is a plus.

  • FE or PE certification is a plus.

  • Strong HVAC and Power industry knowledge, particularly in chilled water and heating equipment. This includes but is not limited to Chillers, Cooling Towers, Boilers, AHUs, DX Units and Power Generators.

  • Proficiency in creating and reading system plans, PI&D, BOM, electrical schematics, engineering specifications, technical literature, and cost estimates.

  • PC literate with Windows-based applications

  • Experience working with CRM systems and project management tools.

  • Experience working with HVAC equipment selection software.

  • Ability to use AutoCAD, Adobe, and Revu Bluebeam.

  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $100,000-120,000 / yr.
