ADM Milling

This is an exempt level position.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Manage, supervise, train, hire, and develop all production and process staff in mill, elevator, packaging, flour storage, and flour and feed load out. Adjust and maintain process equipment in accordance with ADM Milling standards. Optimize plant productivity and milling yields, moistures, capacity and product quality. Develop and manage capital improvement projects. Maintain records in accordance with established ADM policies and procedures and establish and maintain appropriate maintenance schedules. Work closely with commercial manager in meeting customer needs. This Plant Manager manages 6 department managers and approximately 60 salaried and union employees, and reports directly to the Regional Operations Manager.

PRODUCTION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Elevators, Flour Mills, Flour Storage, Bulk Feed Loadout, Warehouse, Packaging Department, and Bulk Flour Loadout

  • Provide technical knowledge for processes and equipment to obtain optimum performance

  • Utilize production personnel and equipment in a safe and efficient manner to obtain maximum capacity and performance with optimum yields and quality product

  • Plan, initiate and put into operation, capital improvement programs within the plant

  • Drive development of operational SOP’s for production process

HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate and ensure adherence to safety laws, regulations, rules and sound practices

  • Work with location management on the continued development and implementation of health and safety programs, policies and procedures

  • Coordinate and participate in audits, prioritizing and tracking completion of findings

  • Ensure that unsafe behavior and conditions are corrected

  • Incident investigation (root cause analyzes), incident trends and related preventative measures

  • Maintain the necessary health and safety records and documentation

  • Set the example for safety and perform safety audits

  • Support the Values Based Safety process

SANITATION/FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate food safety/sanitation/quality programs to plant supervisors and hourly employees and ensure compliance with these ADM standards

  • Prepare the facility for, and participate in, regulatory/third party/customer/company audits

  • Maintain the plant sanitation at levels that ensure we are inspection ready at all times

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Milling Science and/or a minimum of five years of hands-on production management experience

  • Milling experience with both soft and hard wheats is a plus

  • Excellent command of the following: leadership, problem solving, self-motivation, organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Must be confident and courteous with established leadership skills and a strong commitment to employee safety

  • Able to hear and speak clearly, read, comprehend and communicate orally and in writing

  • Position requires standing and walking for long periods, climbing stairs and ladders, and working with tools, working within close-confined spaces and working within extreme temperatures
