Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION
- To provide properly trained, qualified and certified Pilot Instructor aircrew to augment USMC FRSI's at VMUT-2 to enable and sustain student throughput IAW DCMAINST8210.1 (series).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree required.
Training and Experience:
- Prior MQ-9 pilot training, specifically the United States Air Force (USAF) MQ-9 Pilot Initial Qualification Training course (IQT), USMC MQ-9 Pilot Training Course at VMUT-2, or industry equivalent MQ-9 Pilot Training Course (General Atomics-ASI, L3-Harris, Albers, etc.).
- Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) First or Second-Class Airman Medical Certificate, or a current DD Form 2992 at the GFR's discretion, reflecting the individual is medically cleared for flight duty.
- No less than 550 Pilot in Command (PIC) hours in MQ-9 aircraft (up to 50% of that MQ-9 flight time can be conducted in simulator) and no less than 25 hours of MQ-9 instructor time.
- Minimum five years experience as a pilot required, ten years preferred.
General Skills:
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks, a self-starter, flexible in work assignments, detail oriented, highly organized, possess good interpersonal and written communication skills, and work under limited supervision.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Desired Experience:
Previous MQ-1/9 Pilot Instructor preferred.
Security Clearance:
Current security clearance of "Secret" or above.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Contractor Instructors shall be familiar with MCE and LRE instruction and able to teach students in both areas
- The Contractor shall coordinate with the Government Flight Representative (GFR) for appropriate flight approvals prior to any live flight (DCMA form 3062).
- Contractor Aircrew may meet both Pilot and Sensor Operator Aircrew requirements, however no Contractor Instructor shall serve as pilot and sensor operator during a single flight or simulator event.
- Performs administrative duties relative to training such as recordkeeping, monitoring student progress.
- Serves as aircraft type Subject Matter Expert (SME) for curriculum development, students and other personnel as required.
- Maintains a high level of subject knowledge, capability and expertise.
- Conducts briefings and debriefings and counsels with students to develop and maintain a high level of proficiency.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
- Coordinate and conduct aircraft preflight training required to support the syllabi.
