Curtiss-Wright Corporation Materials and Welding Engineering Manager - Pittsburgh in Cheswick, Pennsylvania

Location: Onsite in Cheswick, PA (Pittsburgh).

We are looking for Manager with excellent communication and problem-solving skills to work and manage a diverse group of Materials and Weld Engineers at our EMD team in Pittsburgh (Cheswick)!

Reporting directly to Director of Engineering, you will oversee all of the materials engineering functions at EMD, including metallurgy, welding engineering, brazing, and additive manufacturing technologies. As manager of a cross-functional engineering team, you will work closely with design engineering to support design development and materials engineering issues related to product design and analysis. You will also work closely with Production to support welding, brazing, and other materials joining activities and processes, and will be responsible for ensuring support of factory activities related to materials. As the manager, you will assign and manage materials and welding engineering resources to deliver value-added solutions on-time and within cost allocations. You will foster continuous improvement in processes and methods to complete work, and develop a collaborative group of subject matter experts tailored to meet business needs.

Your Challenge:

  • Actively supports production while interacting effectively and flexibly with internal and external customers to address technical needs including negotiation activities, technical meetings, and review and approval of technical reports

  • Assigns and manages work to meet technical and project requirements on-time and within cost allocations

  • Fosters continuous improvement

  • Provides clear expectations when delegating tasks to materials and welding engineers

  • Effectively and efficiently plans work

  • Defines, grows and maintains key materials engineering skills to meet business needs

  • Provides challenging and stretch assignments to develop engineers, including cross-functional assignments within group

  • Actively mentors to ensure knowledge transfer

  • Acts in alignment with organizational vision

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy/Metallurgical Engineering, Welding Engineering or similar Engineering discipline

  • Master of Science preferred

  • Minimum Experience: 10 years of Engineering experience; 3 years of management experience

  • Experience in performing or leading work in the following areas is preferred:

  • Metallurgy

  • Welding Engineering and/or Brazing

  • Material Failure Analysis

  • Must have strong project management and leadership skills to lead a diverse group of engineers

  • Travel: 5% annually

  • Must be a sole US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance
