As our Bridge team continues to grow, we have a new opportunity for a Bridge Inspection Team Leader in our Chicago O’Hare office. The ideal candidate will work as part of a talented experienced team to perform inspection and design for bridges and other roadway structures. This position offers numerous project challenges and an opportunity to become part of a well-established technical group.
As a Bridge Inspection Team Leader at GRAEF, enjoy responsibilities like:
Leading in-depth inspections and serving as a Team Leader on a variety of bridge inspection projects.
Prepare written bridge inspection reports to document observed findings, recommendations, and corrective actions required.
Reviewing of shop drawings and structural inspections of bridges and highway structures.
Coordinate with project managers and engineers to ensure that all inspections are conducted in a timely, safe, and efficient manner.
Work closely with professional engineers to perform structural design with a concentration on Illinois DOT Bridge structures.
Mentoring, training and developing junior staff.
To be considered for our Bridge Inspection Team Leader position, we are seeking candidates who meet the following basic qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field. Master's degree is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in the structural inspection and design of bridges using IDOT standards. Candidates with greater experience are encouraged to apply as well. CDOT and Tollway experience is a plus.
Experience with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) as a bridge inspection assistant and be qualified as a Team Leader with completion of National Highway Institute (NHI) courses or equivalent.
Knowledge of relevant federal, state and local regulations related to bridge inspection, safety, and access.
Holder of a valid drivers license.
Existing status as an IDOT NBIS Bridge Inspection Team Leader or Program Manager, or ability to obtain within the next 6 months.
Registration as a PE in IL is desired, or ability to obtain in the next 6 months.
