Symetria Recovery Director of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois

Who we are:

Symetria Recovery is the #1 outpatient rehab in Illinois and Texas. It started with three simple, yet game-changing core beliefs: Addiction is a disease; co-occurring mental health conditions should be addressed, and patients deserve respect, not judgement. Symetria Recovery provides comprehensive substance abuse treatment with a focus on Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) in a welcoming outpatient setting. Unlimited clinical services are available to our patients under our bundled-service delivery model. Key services delivered through our Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) licensure include MAT, medically monitored psychiatric care, individual therapy, group therapy (IOP), 6-day-per-week nursing care, and ongoing aftercare. Most of our patients being provided medication receive Buprenorphine products, but they can also receive Methadone, injectables (Vivitrol, Sublocade), and any other FDA-approved medication for addiction.

What you will do:

The Director of Nursing is responsible for managing and overseeing the operations and quality of the nursing functions and activities to ensure an exceptional patient experience and compliance with all Symetria Recovery policies. The DON is responsible for overseeing the dispensing of medications in each Symetria Recovery clinic as well as clinic nursing team and dispensary oversight and management. DON will work with the clinic staff, Practitioners, Medical Directors, and Program Directors to ensure the appropriate medical care of patients and a high standard of quality is upheld. In addition, the DON will work with Regional Program Director as well as the clinic Program Directors surrounding nursing team management and dispensary operations.

  • Works with the Nurse Leads and Program Directors to create monthly nursing schedule to ensure required scheduling and staffing needs are followed at each clinic assigned to region while optimizing resource utilization. DON is eligible for mileage reimbursement per company policy.

  • Collaborate with Regional Director and Program Directors to address any staffing gaps and implement contingency plans as needed.

  • Ensures regional nursing schedules and coverage needs are maintained by the nursing leads.

  • Responsible for ensuring all aspects of dispensing policies and procedures are upheld, nursing staff support and dispensary activities.

  • Ensure monthly medication room audits are conducted at all regional locations, identifying areas for improvement and develop corrective action plans in collaboration with nursing leads and Program Directors

  • Will assess for and work with appropriate Program Director for any employee disciplinary matters of nursing staff.

  • Prepare and present regional and national nursing meetings that provide critical updates and policy reviews with the nursing team

  • Partners with the Program Directors to interview, precept, and mentor new staff. Contributes with annual performance evaluations.

  • Serve as a resource and mentor to lead nurses, clinic dispensing nurses, providing guidance and support in clinic-decision making and patient care.

  • Provide training, oversight and review of policy and procedures to all nursing staff in the assigned region

  • Partner with Learning and Development to establish training resources for new hires and ongoing professional development for the nursing team

  • Required to identify clinical problem areas and inform/train staff in the correction of any deficiencies.

  • Collaborate with Program Directors and Regional Director to ensure a supportive and collaborative work environment for nursing staff.

  • Serve as a liaison between clinic locations and regional leadership, conveying relevant information and surfacing concerns relating to the nursing department that require additional support.

  • Responsible for locating, understanding, and implementing Symetria Recovery's policies and procedures. Works with clinic management on ensuring company wide initiatives are being met, as well as makes suggestions for any workflow improvements and development on procedures related to nursing duties

  • Partner with Utilization Review and psychiatry providers to process medication prior authorizations for clinics within assigned region

  • Any and all duties as assigned.

Travel Expectations

  • Travel expected throughout each region, travel can be up to 75%

  • Position is eligible for mileage reimbursement per company policy and should overnight stays be necessary, travel expenses are reimbursed.

Experience, Skills and/or Requirements

  • 7-10 years' experience as an RN/LPN/LVN, preferably in a medication assisted treatment or an opiate treatment setting.

  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience required.

  • Must pass a criminal background check.

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Licensed with Illinois or Texas as Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse.
