Sargent & Lundy Environmental Science Intern in Chicago, Illinois
Description
As an Environmental Science Intern, you will assist the engineering team members in the execution of their project work in the following areas:
Apply professional environmental/engineering skills to meet project team and client needs for defining, evaluating, and implementing environmental compliance and permitting projects
Identify the environmental requirements that apply to electric power related projects, including electric power generating stations, substations, and transmission line projects
Work with project engineers to ensure projects are designed and developed using criteria that recognize all relevant environmental requirements
Prepare permit applications for state and local permitting agencies
Prepare complex technical reports including site selection studies, environmental and social impact assessments, compliance audits, and regulatory reviews
Qualifications
Essential skills and experience:
Must have an expected graduation date in December 2025 or Spring 2026 toward a BS in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field, MS preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to interact and multitask with project team members, clients, and regulatory agencies
Valued but not required skills and experience:
Familiarity with environmental compliance and permitting for complex industrial projects, and/or environmental laws and regulations that apply to large industrial facilities
